Our trip to the corn maze finally materialized last Sunday. Remember what I posted about HERE? Funny thing is, we didn’t go to where we intended to go in the beginning. The hubs got an invite from his high school buddy so off we went to this little town which is about a thirty minute drive from where we live. I have been to some parts of this little town before but that was my first time to explore the area where the farm is located.
We went to North River Farms in Mills River, North Carolina for their Fall Festival. The weather cooperated with us this time so it was totally perfect. Needless to say, you surely can’t blame me if I exclaimed, “Finally!” The farm is huge and they had a lot in store for the whole family to enjoy.
Nothing says fall like mums and pumpkins. There’s my little kiddo with me. I do wonder where his eyes were, just exactly what was he looking at. This was at the entrance of the farm. Gotta have that photo with the mums and pumpkins, right? Thanks to the hubs who is always ready to take a shot whenever I request him to. It’s seldom so he has no reason to complain.(“,)
We did the corn maze first. We enjoyed our first corn maze experience so much that it was what we’ve been raring to do again this fall. And there was certainly a huge difference between this one and the first maze that we experienced. The trails of this were narrower and it seemed creepy walking around all that corn. Or I probably just overreacted after the guys in-charge told us that we had to look for two men lost in the maze and bring them back. Knowing that Halloween is fast approaching, I was scared zombies might be waiting for us somewhere. LOL. The scaredy-cat in me again. But there were no zombies, or real men lost in there; just scarecrows.
The hubs and the little kiddo did the combine simulator. They harvested wheat on the TV monitor, and while they were doing it inside, I was also watching the TV monitor on the outside. See that little TV on the top left? That was where I was watching.
These were some of the fun that the festival offered. There was horseback riding and hay ride for kids and adults alike, train ride and inflatables for the kids, and live music for everyone. Toys for Tots was also there complete with Christmas decors raising donations.
They also displayed their farm vehicles which include this huge combine used to harvest corn. Look how tiny the husband looks beside it. And I would have looked teeny-tinier.
That was a great family day for us once again although the hubs missed his buddy. He didn’t arrive there until after we had left. Also, we enjoyed a sweet and delicious treat at the festival which I am going to talk about on Friday for our Food Trip Friday so watch out for that.

It looked like such a gorgeous day to go to a patch! We didn’t have a chance to get to one this year, but there’s a cute one around us that has a huge hay bale stack that the kids loved to climb up.
