In my last post on Friday, I said probably when I was talking about if I’m going to share what the hubs got me for our anniversary. I’ve decided over the weekend and here it is. He got me a Canon DSLR camera.
Having a DSLR has been in my wish list for quite some time now. Over the years, I’ve only been using my point and shoot or iPhone in taking pictures. As a blogger, I believe having a good camera that takes great photos is not only a want, but a need. We do know that people are visual. I always read about nice photos getting more attention or hits than the other ones. I have to admit, I love looking at beautiful and high quality photos when I visit a website but that’s not the only thing that captures my attention: content is important too.
Nonetheless, I am so over the moon that the hubs got me this which is definitely my new favorite toy. He probably realized that it is about time to step our blog photos up a notch. (“,)
I’m a newbie when it comes to photography using a DSLR. Is there any tips that you would like to share with me?
I have been looking at a few different DSLR’s lately and I think when I do get one, it will be a Canon!
newbie.. doesn’t sound like it to me.. i know nothing about taking pictures.. but we have a friend who does this for a living and suggested the DSLR camera.
Haha. I am a newbie. I already knew a few tricks, but I still have a lot to learn.
Oh, you are gonna LOVE this camera. Cannon is the best, and DSLR is so much fun!
I just got a new camera but I’m still trying to figure out how it all works! i’m thinking of taking an online course 😉
I actually want to take a class. We’ll look into it.
I’ve had my Canon DSLR for years and it is amazing. I love Canons, you will love this camera. It takes gorgeous photos.
It does take gorgeous photos. Love it!
Say what?! OMG what a gift!!! I use my iPhone for all my pics and I know how muchg better a real camera would be. They are so bulky though! I’m not sure I will ever have it in my budget, but time to find a husband to score some sweet anniversary gifts 😉
Haha. You’re so funny! This one is actually not that big. It fits perfectly in my handbag. (“,)
Ahhhh I have this camera and love it!!!! Not to hard to figure out and takes awesome pics!!
I totally agree with you! (“,)
I need to branch out and finally get a dslr. The photo quality alone is why I need one!! I love canon and Nikon!
I really missed my DSLR it was broke 🙁 (Sad) I think I need to buy a new one. I really love Canon.
WHat a beautiful camera! Congrats on such an awesome piece of equipment.
Thank you! Kudos to the hubs! (“,)
Ooh congrats in the upgrade. I’m excited to see your new pics on the blog:)
Thank you! Can’t wait to share. (“,)
I also think that capturing great photos is a need and it is important for bloggers. What do you think of mirrorless cameras vs. DSLRs?
Mirrorless cameras. Actually, that’s the first time that I’ve heard of that. I have to check that out.
Ohh, nice! I have a Sony Alpha but would love to try the Canons!
I have an older Canon – looks the same and it is wonderful – don’t use it much now tho – your post is very inspiring! Thank you 🙂
Thank you, Donna. So sweet of you. (“,)
I’m so happy with my DSLR! I can’t believe how long I got on without one. That was a great gift!
It certainly is a great gift! Good job, Hubby! (“,)
I have a DSLR, but don’t know how to use it! Hoping to learn more!
I still have to learn a lot as well. (“,)
My husband loves Canon and I must say its a beautiful camera. I love the quality of the pictures and its definitely quality.
I have the rebel SL1 and I love it! I love it’s small body! It fits so easily in my purse, which is perfect!
Good to know that, Lauren. And I couldn’t agree more with you. (“,)
This looks like an amazing camera. I have been wanting to upgrade to a better camera for years now.
I love canon, use to have a camera of my own years ago; I was really into photography! I hope you’re enjoying it! 🙂
I am certainly enjoying it. Thanks. (“,)
What a wonderful and thoughtful gift your husband bought you!! I have no tips for you since I barely take pictures at all-but I am sure you will figure it all out and we all will be seeing gorgeous photos on your site taken with your brand new Canon camera!
That is so sweet and kind of you. Thank you. (“,)
I agree that having good, high quality photographs improves the impact of a blog. A while back, my husband and I bought a really good camera, but so far neither of us has had the time to learn to use it!
Thats a great camera! I have a Canon EOS Rebel Ti3. I was just telling hubs the other day that I wanted a camera with a smaller body. This one is a bit heavy and I have arthritis in my hands so sometimes after a while it gets hard to hold. Thank goodness for tripods.
That’s a nice camera. I would love to have that for a feb.14 gift, even though we don’t exchange gifts. 😉
Haha. Well, maybe your husband will read your comment here and decide to give you a gift on Valentine’s day for a change. 😉
You will love the camera and it will definitely make a difference! Enjoy learning! There’s so many great sites and tutorials out there on blogs.
I’m loving it already. Still have to check and read tutorials though. (“,)
Awww, that’s really sweet. I am planning to get a new camera, but I don’t really want the huge and heavy DSLRs. I might throw in some more to invest in a DSLR as powerful as this one over the powerful point-and-shoot cams. I look forward to your future posts because I’m sure that we’re all set to see a lot of great snapshots.
Thank you, Russ. That’s so sweet of you. (“,)
That’s awesome! Way to go sis and congrats on your new baby!
Thank you, sis! (“,)
A good photo shop may be able to give you tips on how to use it properly. I think that’s a good place to start. Congrats on the camera.
Thank you, Margarita. I’ll look into it. (“,)
I am so in need of a camera. Have always loved the Canon name. I use my cell phone for pics so much.
I use my cell phone a lot too in taking photos. A cell phone is handy so I will probably be using it a lot still although I already have the DSLR. (“,)
Great gift! Just practice with it, try to use it in a manual mode as much as you can 🙂
Thanks for the tip, Katarina! (“,)
A good photography is always an awesome thing and it starts with a DLSR haha.. but I always love a great shot.
