We always go to the Asian store every couple of weeks. The previous week, I was so delighted to see one of my favorite vegetables that you can’t find here in the U.S. supermarkets. And that is the string beans or what we call sitaw back home in the Philippines. I’ve been here in the U.S. for more than four years now, but it was the first time that I’ve seen them here. Or maybe they had it before but they ran out before I got there. Anywho, I grabbed a bunch of them and here’s the dish that I created with it.
Sauteed string beans or what we call as ginisang sitaw is one of the simplest Filipino dishes that you can make yet it is so tasty and filling. It is cheap too since you only need a few ingredients. Needless to say, it’s good for the tummy and the pocket.
It is definitely one of my favorite Filipino dishes and you could either have it for lunch or dinner paired with rice.
I am sharing with you the simple recipe but please do remember that you can only find the string beans at an Asian store or Oriental Market.
