It’s so seldom that the hubs and I get a chance to have a lunch date like what we had at Magnolia Ray and we seldom go on a dinner date too. I can’t exactly remember the last time the two of us had a dinner date actually, but I do remember a dinner date with him at a Thai restaurant when the little one had a sleepover. So this is one of those posts once again that I looked back in one of those moments where I truly enjoyed the food. I love good food! Who doesn’t, right?
We live in a neighborhood where we are close to just about everything including an area where a lot of restaurants that offer different cuisines are located. When the hubs decided that we go out to eat that night, he was the one who chose where to take me, and he decided on a Thai restaurant. That was both our first time to try Thai food.
The restaurant was recommended by hubby’s nephew who loves Thai food. I know Thai food is generally spicy and I am not into spicy food, but I was informed that I could request a not-so overpowering level of spiciness. The name of the restaurant is Noi’s Thai Kitchen and I think it is one of the best here in the city.
Here’s what we had!
We also have our version of Filipino spring rolls and I’ve always loved them. Theirs is equally as delicious as ours back home in the Philippines. What they have in their spring rolls are mixed vegetables and chopped shrimp wrapped in rice paper and they were lightly deep fried.
Stir-fried beef with fresh mixed vegetables sautéed with thin soy sauce. I am such a lover of stir-fry food. I think it’s an Asian thing.
Stir-fried seafood with mixed vegetables. This was hubby’s choice. He loves seafood a lot – one thing that we both have in common. Apologies for the poor photos. I used my old Blackberry phone in these photos.
I am not really an iced tea person. The hubs is, but the waitress asked me to try their Thai iced tea so I did. It’s not bad at all, but I wasn’t crazy about it either. The hubs liked it. For him, it’s something different because he was always been used to just drinking sweet tea – southern style, though without the lemon. 🙂
That was our first Thai food experience and definitely not the last. I would love to try their Pad Thai next time which hubby’s nephew highly recommends.
Have you tried Thai food? How do you like it?

I know exactly how you feel. I love it too and I first experienced it when I ate at a Thai restaurant and when they closed I was heart broken. I got cook books and started making some of the dishes myself.

You would definitely fall for Pad Thai. The first time I had it was an experience in itself. You’d never have any other Asian noodle dish as good as Pad Thai!

I love Thai food and am offering my recommendation the next time you have this cuisine; my favorite dish is pad kee prow (a noodle dish) and basil, garlic chicken (which you can specify mild, medium or hot). Also, you must try mango sticky rice!
