Hubby’s good friend is in town again visiting from the Philippines where he has retired to and, as always, he paid us a visit and took us to dinner. He never fails to do that whenever he’s in town. He’s such a sweet friend and their friendship is something that I truly admire because it started way back when they were in the first grade. Friendship like that is rare and is definitely a blessing.
It was a night of good conversation and hanging out plus superb food. He loves seafood just like us so he took us to the best seafood restaurant in Asheville, The Lobster Trap.
Hubby and I had our anniversary dinner last year at The Lobster Trap and we knew for certain that it wouldn’t be the last time that we were going to dine there. We didn’t have an idea though that the next one would be a dinner treat from his good friend. How sweet is that?!
And as generous as he always is, he made us choose an appetizer and a main course. For him, it’s a special celebration when we’re all together so it’s kind of like the sky’s the limit. 😉
Let’s start with the appetizers.
Then the main courses.
And lastly, the drinks.
Both the hubs and his friend had wine and the little one, as always, had a glass of his favorite orange juice. I chose to have a glass of water because I’d already had a glass of juice before we went there.
Hopefully in the near future, we’ll be able to return the treat to him and his Filipino wife when my hubby takes me back to the Philippines and retires there just like his friend did. I so look forward to that because the one thing I miss so much is my native food. And as his friend put it, it would be so much easier for them to stay in contact without having to fly across the Pacific Ocean just to have dinner together. I can hardly wait!

How lovely that you got to go out and enjoy a delicious dinner. I’d love to eat out more with my other half. That mac and cheese looks so delicious!

The mac and cheese was absolutely delicious as per our little one. It was his choice the first time we were there too. 🙂
Sign me up to get caught by the Lobster Trap, because that food looks amazing! I’d love to eat there sometime. Yum!
The Lobster Trap is one of our fav restaurants in Asheville. When we get a date night, it’s generally where we go. Glad you enjoyed your meal so much!
It sounds like you had a lovely dinner with great company. One of my good friends is visiting from the East coast this weekend and I can’t wait to catch up with her and her family. It’s nice to stay connected with friends you’ve known since childhood, just as with your husband’s friend from 1st grade.
Yes, Channelle. It was such a great night with great food and great company. Gotta love times like those.
That lobster mac and cheese looks amazing! I’ve never eaten there, but the next time I’m in Asheville, I’m going to try it. It’s so nice that your husband and his childhood friend has remained best friends all these years.
Their friendship is really one of a kind. Hope you get to visit the restaurant once you visit Asheville again, Alli. 🙂
I absolutely love lobster, but have not had it in so long! This looks like a great place to take the family.
I’m salivating! Lobster heaven! Everything looks amazing. I bet it is hard to pick a favorite. The lobster mac n cheese looks really good.
I order a lot of those at my favorite seafood restaurants, I actually make a pretty mean seafood mushroom myself by the way! If your friend is single, send him my way! LOL 🙂
LOL. He’s already married, Tracy and I actually can’t wait to meet his wife. 🙂
Wow! What a great treat…. a wonderful dinner with such a great friend! And plans to reunite one day in your home country. I love it!!
I know, right? It was really a wonderful evening, Paula and I am so looking forward to the day that we will all get-together in my home country. 🙂
i love seafood, especially lobster and crawfish! Thats an amazing dinner treat!
It was definitely an amazing treat, Rika. Gotta love him. He’s such a sweet man! 🙂
I love seafood and it is always the first thing on my plate during buffets. The grilled lobster and the oyster rockefeller looks so delicious!
The grilled lobster was my choice and it was divine! 🙂
What a wonderful time you all had! I love lobsters and all those foods made me drool.
It was definitely a wonderful night for all of us. 🙂
I love me some lobster mac and cheese my gosh I do. Everything on this table looks great minus the bratwurst, that’s not my thing. This place sounds like a total winner.
The bratwurst was my husband’s choice. He’s a big fan. 🙂
All the food just looks amazing. I don’t eat sea food either. But my husband does. Looks like a lovely dinner.
All of this food looks so amazing! My family and I love lobster, so I bet we would love the Lobster Trap.
I bet you would, Dawn. 🙂
Even though I’m not a huge fan of sea food, that lobster macaroni looks amazing! The cornbread too. If we had a Lobster trap here, based on your post alone I would have to check it out.
Jamela, I think you and my son would get along. LOL. Both the mac and cheese and the cornbread were his choices. 🙂
My husband loves seafood more than he loves ME, I think! Haha! He’d love this place. He doesn’t get to eat it too often though because I’m allergic to shelled fish. Blah. (insert really sad face)
LOL. That’s too funny, Jenni.
I don’t eat seafood, but I must admit that everything looks delicious! I know that my mom and oldest sister would love this restaurant since they both get into seafood.
Oh my, everything looks so good! We have one here but never visited them yet. Now I will definitely check them out.
Wow you’ve got some great selections photographed there. It looks like a nice dining experience indeed. 🙂
This food all looks so amazing. I have not had sea food in years. I will have to see where the closest Lobster Trap is to us.
All of that food looks amazing!! I am such a seafood lover and I don’t get to have it very often.
Wow that meal certainly looks delicious. It’s wonderful that they still have a good friendship after all these years. So rare and priceless. 🙂
Yuuuuuum! You make it to all the cool places, lol. I want to go to the Lobster Trap! It looks amazing!
OH, that is silently killing me as I so love those scrumptious lobster and corn bread…now I best go get something to eat. Sure is not gonna be an alternative but needs to fill up the stomach.
Wow That looks amazing. Made my mouth water.
Awwwww looks like y’all had a pretty fabulous dinner!!! It’s aways great to catch up with old friends especially over deliciousness food 🙂
