Aside from creating the adorable Mini Donut Spiders, I also created these on Halloween using a recipe that I found online. With Halloween in mind, these hot dogs were supposed to turn out as Mummy Hot Dogs, but as soon as my son saw it, he was like, “Wow! Pigs in a blanket!” with a delightful look on his face.
So since he called it pigs in a blanket, I decided to just forget about the eyes which was supposed to be mustard. Besides, I forgot to leave room for the eyes. That’s probably why my son thought they were pigs in a blanket after all. 🙂
The recipe that I followed called for 32 Hilshire Farms Li’l SMokies. So these were like mini hot dog Mummies.
It also required a can of refrigerated crescent rolls that I cut into strips to wrap around each hot dog or sausage.
Bake at 375 degrees F for 10 to 15 minutes and there you have it, cute and delicious Mummy hot dogs or pigs in a blanket. 🙂
My son has always loved pigs in a blanket, but I’ve never thought of checking for a recipe. We just always bought the ready made ones at the store which are actually more pricey than this. I’m glad I found this recipe which is more affordable, not to mention, very easy to make. Now, I can prepare our little kiddo his favorite anytime.
But for the life of me, I couldn’t find the website where I got the recipe. I thought I had it bookmarked aside from printing the recipe. I should have pinned it. If it’s you, do let me know, and thank you for your recipe. 🙂
Mommy hot dogs. Pigs in a blanket. Whatever you call them, they’re absolutely delicious!
My kids and I love these. They are mummies in October, and regular pigs in a blanket during the rest of the year. Yum!
I totally forgot about these! I used to gobble these up as a kid! I need to make these for my son!
I think that every kid loves these! Pigs in a blanket are super tasty.
These look really good. The difference between this and pigs in a blanket must be the crescent rolls. I think the crescent roll texture sounds great for these.
This is always a fun, family favorite for finger food! And, with mustard, ohhhh…..!
Confession = pigs in a blanket or mummy hot dogs – I don’t care what they are called, they are pretty much my favorite appetizer. I know they aren’t the most elegant of bites, but they are so tasty!
This is a popular party go to recipe to add to the menu for a long time. However, I never get sick of being reminded about it because it’s a kid favorite. I don’t think about it UNLESS I see posts like these.
Pigs in a blanket are the best, I love this idea of making them mummy hot dogs. My boys would get a kick out of those.
They look so yummy. My kids would gobble these up fast. I’d like to call it both names.
I love this idea! My kids really enjoy grab and go food and so do I! These are easy and simple done in no time and such a kid friendly dish!
Those mummy hot dog look very fun, easy and very yummy! 😀
We were going to make some of these this year, but instead I think we will make a wreath made out of these! Delish, either way!
What a cute reference to the sausage inside the donuts! I think the lesson is that when you find a recipe that looks good, either print it out right away or bookmark the site.
These are so cute. My boys would enjoy them. I try not to eat a ton of hot dogs personally.
I would want to have the recipe too. LIke you, I just go the easy route and get the ready to bake mixes at the supermarket. If someone would share a recipe, please do post it in your blog so I can pin it too.
I always make pigs in a blanket for my kids, they love it. I use little smokies for miine.
Pigs in a Blanket are one of my fave snacks!! I thin they make cute mummies too…LOL!
These are so cool. I can’t believe I have never made these for my kiddos. Definitely doing this soon!
Well those are great to serve any time. There’s a big OSU/Michigan game coming up. These would be perfect appetizers for that game!
I don’t eat meat, but my children love hot dogs! They would certainly love something like this, too.
I had no idea that pigs in a blanket had another name! I do like the name mummy hot dogs. Very cute name and such a delicious snack,
My son loves these! He thinks they are perfect for his little hands. He will eat them no matter what you call them lol.
My kids are hot dog lovers, I should make these with them. They would enjoy that.
