Happy Friday!
I’m glad that the hubs was finally able to share the story of what transpired last month. A very scary event that I know no one would wish themselves into. And it happened in the middle of a snow storm, the worst we had all season (8 inches!) which I think he forgot to mention. I wanted him to write about it so all I could tell you in my posts before was a little hint. He is still recuperating although I can say, he is looking and feeling good. But I still let him take his time about writing about it because I know it was hard for him, not to mention, he still couldn’t believe that he had the heart attack.
Anywho, all is well now and we couldn’t be more thankful about it. He was given another life to live which is definitely a blessing and something to celebrate big time. So on his birthday (less than a day to go before his heart attack turned one month old), I made sure that he would have an extra special birthday celebration.
I took him to dinner at one of Asheville’s finest, The Corner Kitchen. It is located in the Historic Biltmore Village, one of the nicest parts of Asheville where all the buildings were built in the late 19th century by George Vanderbilt, creating a base for the workers at the huge mansion he had built, the famous Biltmore House.
The exterior of the restaurant alone is a sight with its Victorian design. This restaurant was also where the POTUS and FLOTUS had their dinner when they visited the city in 2010. It was our first time to eat at the restaurant. I’ve been raring to eat there for a while now. Well, it just made our first time there extra special because it was hubby’s special day.
This finger food was given to us even before we ordered our drinks. I totally forgot what this was called, but all the hubs and I could remember was that it had horseradish and chicken in it and it was absolutely delicious!
As usual, my son and I ordered orange juice for our drinks and the hubs had his fave sweet tea.
So gad that they had our favorite calamari. It had jalapeno on top, but since I don’t like spicy foods, I just let my husband and son take care of it.
Guess who’s plate was this? The little one, of course!
My walnut crusted salmon with creamy broccoli and risotto. Yum!
Hubby’s blueberry glazed pork chop with fried green tomatoes and roasted potatoes.
And since it was hubby’s birthday, this dessert was given to him for free. Such a sweet treat with that little candle in it. And this souffle literally melts in your mouth. Really yummy!
It was certainly an extra special night with superb and phenomenal food! A birthday dinner that the hubs truly deserved!
