I love where we live because it is close to almost everything. From restaurants to stores and even to family and pet friendly parks. Beaver lake is located on Merrimon Avenue, only about a mile from where we live and we always pass by the area whenever we go to stores around this area or when we go downtown not unless we take the interstate route.
This past January 22nd, the east coast was hit by a blizzard and although we were not hit as hard compared to other parts of the east coast, it was the thickest snow that we’ve had since winter started – about 8 inches. We normally don’t go anywhere when the roads are bad, but that day, the 24th, we had to do what we had to do. More of the story about what unfolded on the 23rd later on. My husband would be the one to share the story.
Anyway, I was with my SIL, nephew, niece and son when we passed by Beaver Lake on our way to have lunch that Sunday morning. I’ve seen the lake frozen a few times in the past, but it was the first time that I’ve seen it with this much snow around it. As you can see, it was gorgeous!
I was in the car and it was running when I took these photos using my iPhone. Snapped a lot just to make sure I get a lot of photos to choose from. You know, it could be a little hard to get the best photos when you are inside a running vehicle. Glad I was able to snap some really beautiful ones.
Beaver Lake is a favorite of people around here to go walking, hiking or running. Or even to walk their dogs, go fishing or just sit in one of the benches to soak in all the beauty and tranquility that the lake has to offer.
We did an impromptu trip there last summer and actually took some Chinese food there for lunch. I can’t wait for us to have some lunch there again by the lake or perhaps, do some walking this summer or spring. Exercising is one of my goals this year after all. 🙂

That looks beautiful! A little cold, but beautiful. I have not been to North Carolina in years but I know when I went there I always loved how beautiful it was.

That scenery is so beautiful. There’s nothing like a lake in the winter. The way the sun reflects of the water and the snow is gorgeous.
