Happy Food Trip Friday!
My hangover from the holiday weekend and 4th of July festivities is finally gone. I still had a bit yesterday and the weather didn’t help at all. We’ve had severe thunderstorms since Tuesday and it looks like it’s going to be another gloomy day today, but no more thunderstorms, I think. The forecast is showing some sunshine so there is hope that Mr. Sun is going to show up today. And that’s one thing that I am looking forward to seeing.
I gave you a peek of what we had for dinner on Independence Day on my 4th of July Wrap-up post. And like I mentioned there, we didn’t plan on having Japanese food for dinner, but It wasn’t our usual 4th of July celebration. Usually, we join my brother and sister-in-law for a traditional American cookout. But like last year, she had to work so we were on our own and chose to eat global, opposed to the quintessential American hot dogs and hamburgers and ribs. We just walked and browsed the restaurants in downtown Asheville close to where the festivities were happening and saw Hana Japanese Hibachi & Sushi Bar on Biltmore Avenue. The hubs loves Japanese food and as an Asian, there’s no question why I love it too. And this was the food that we filled our tummies with.
I don’t know what was with the little one, but even before the holiday weekend, he was already mumbling about wanting to have tempura. And that day finally came. 🙂
This salad with ginger dressing came with my entree’.
This soup was really good.
Both the hubs and the little had Miso soups.
The first thing that our son checks as soon as he gets hold of the menu is the appetizer category and looks for calamari. And imagine how happy he gets when the restaurant offers calamari.
I chose vegetables hibachi and loved all the goodies. It was delicious! The serving was too much for my tummy though, but since we still have to go back to where the festivities were, we didn’t bother to ask for a to-go box.
The husband had tempura as well.
The food was delicious and we all enjoyed it. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice as well. I loved the decor and loved where we were seated – right next to the window where it was perfect for people watching. 🙂
Have a great weekend!

Great idea to try something different for the 4th. I did the same thing a few years back and had Italian food with one of my guy friends and his Italian girlfriend. I love Japanese food and everything looks delicious!

Yummy, I want some Japanese food. I haven’t had any in a very long time. 🙂
My favorite is chicken hibachi. I love watching them cook the food in front of me too. I need to take my youngest son just for the experience alone.

I love a good Asian meal. We don’t have very many good ones around us, but when I do find a good one I’m all over it.
