One day a few weeks ago, the forecast was calling for rain. It had been raining for few days before that and that day started gloomy. Then all of a sudden, the sun came out. We surely didn’t expect it. So the hubs and I decided to enjoy the sun and headed to the lake…not the one close to us which is Beaver Lake, but the one in the nearby town of Weaverville, Lake Louise.
The lake is more or less a 10-minute drive from Asheville. This is the park where they usually have their 4th of July fireworks display. We’ve watched 4th of July fireworks here for many years because this is the town where my in-laws live, until we’ve decided to try the 4th of July celebration in downtown Asheville.
This lake exudes beauty, tranquility and peacefulness. I love the fountain right in the middle of it and the sound that it creates. Don’t you just love the calming sound of running water? Fishing is allowed for those people with permits. The hubs and I were delighted to see not only fishes…there were small turtles too.
And tucked in the area at the back of the lake is this gem, an old water wheel. Apparently, there was once a gristmill here where flour was milled. You would have never noticed this area if you had not paid close attention. It’s located at a lower level off the road and you have to walk down about twenty feet. I surely would not have noticed this if my brother-in-law didn’t show it to us.
You would have never thought that this waterfall is located right in the middle of town. Such an easy access for those people who love waterfalls, but couldn’t hike a mile…like me. 🙂
That wheel without a doubt adds beauty to the area and added to the feeling of being in a country setting. Don’t you agree?
We saw these wild flowers where the waterfall is located. For the flower lover in me, I’ve got to take that snap shot. Such lovely flowers.
After having a gorgeous sunshiny weekend, it looks like we’re going to have another gloomy day today. But like what happened that day, there is still a chance of seeing Mr. Sun. He could still change his mind, if he wants to, right? And if ever that happens, we could probably jump in the car and head to Lake Louise once again, just like what we did the last time. 🙂
Enjoy your Monday!
Pictures like this make me jealous of where you live! We live in a desert and I am kind of sick of brown! LOL This is beautiful!
Oh my goodness, that’s so beautiful! I love all the rock formations, and I adore the water wheel. I’ve always been a sucker for water wheels.

Your photos are amazing. I am so jealous that you have a place like this right in the middle of the town. We have to travel miles to visit a place like this.

That is one gorgeous place sis. We just got back from our road trip and we all had a blast!
What a beautiful lake. I would love to take a road trip to see it someday soon. I don’t think it’s too far from the OBX, well less than a days drive at least.
