It can’t be denied…summer is almost over and fall is right around the corner. The photo below of a red leaf that I saw at the golf course a few weeks ago is only one of the proofs. The chilly mornings we’re having lately is another proof and the smell of the leaves that have already fell on the ground is another. Yup, there are already a layer of leaves that have fallen on our yard and hubby actually started blowing leaves yesterday.
I love fall. The hubs talked about why I fell in love with fall here on the blog before and I can’t wait for it to arrive. I always look forward to the foliage. And being in the mountains of Western North Carolina, it is one thing that our city and the area surrounding it boasts of. The foliage is always gorgeous and it never fails to amaze me every time. But the beautiful foliage is just one reason why you’ve got to visit Asheville in the fall. There’s more!
STATE PARKS AND NATIONAL PARKS
For our first autumn ever here in the U.S., hubby took me and my son to the most visited parkway here during the season, the Blue Ridge Parkway. You can go leaf peeping while driving through the parkway or you can stop at one or more of the overlooks and soak in the color and beauty of the parkway. You can also hike and enjoy the trails.
There are also state and national parks that are a few minutes drive from Asheville like the Great Smoky Mountains National Park where you can go hiking or the Chimney Rock State Park where you can also go hiking or just enjoy the gorgeous view from the top of the rock.
BILTMORE HOUSE
America’s Largest Home is something that should not be missed visiting when you visit Asheville. The Biltmore House is an amazing architecture in itself, but how about making it a backdrop amidst the beautiful colorful trees? It’s stunning!
FALL FESTIVALS
Festivals abound around Asheville during the season. There’s the LEAF Festival in the nearby small town of Black Mountain or the Art in Autumn festival in Weaverville. We also went to one in Mills River. They had food, music and fun for the whole family.
APPLE ORCHARDS, PUMPKIN PATCHES AND CORN MAZES
Fall is the season where I feel like we get to be farmers and enjoy farm-like activities for the whole family. 🙂 And there are a lot of farms to visit near the city to go apple picking, enjoy pumpkin patches or get lost in a corn maze.
DOWNTOWN
But if you’re not up to driving and joining in other activities, just strolling around downtown Asheville is already fun enough. With a coffee in hand, you can walk through downtown, soak in its beauty and perhaps check all the shops that you walk by. From arts stores to apparel shops, they have it all in downtown.
Have you been to Asheville? Do you plan to visit our beautiful city in the fall?

Fall is by far my favorite season. I took my mom to the Biltmore Estate 2 years ago and it was beautiful, we went for Christmas though. The trees were beautifully decorated and each room was a different theme. I’ll have toi drag the boyfriend to a festival this year i believe. I was actually just sitting here thinking about it, haha.
