Happy Food Trip Friday!
If you follow me on Instagram, you already know that I turned a year older a few days ago. And as usual, my husband and son did not disappoint me with their well-thought-of surprises. Gotta love those two. But not only that. Hubby’s good friend was in town on my birthday and the nice person that he always is, he treated us to dinner. He and this friend have been the best of friends since the 1st grade and, ironically, his friend too married a Filipina and he now lives in the Philippines.
And he knows exactly that we love seafood as much as he does so he took us again to the best seafood restaurant in Asheville, The Lobster Trap. That was the second time that we’ve all been there to eat dinner. He also gave us a dinner treat there before. But I won’t mind going back there over and over again because I will never get tired of seafood. Nom!
The Lobster Trap is located right in downtown Asheville. That night was like a sky is the limit kind of treat. Hubby’s friend told us to order what we wanted and we did. So brace yourself because there’s going to be a seafood overload here. 🙂
DRINKS
You can only see one drink here which is the little one’s orange juice, but there was more. Hubby’s friend ordered wine and hubby had a Bloody Mary. Too bad my photo of the Bloody Mary was blurry so I didn’t include it here.
APPETIZERS
One thing that the hubs and his friend, Lewis have in common is that they are both suckers for oysters. Raw oysters to be precise.
For the hubs and I, this is the thing that we have in common…mussels! I love ’em steamed; love ’em with cream; love ’em baked; and even love ’em sautéed. If there’s mussels available, I’m going to love ’em! 🙂
The little one’s maple bacon scallops. He can seriously have bacon every single day. But I’m not going to let him. 🙂
ENTREES
Lewis always orders this double tower. And this was his and the hubs’ entree.
The little one is a sucker for mac and cheese. Is there any kid who doesn’t? He ordered this lobster mac and cheese the first time we were there and he loved it so much back then that he ordered it again that night.
My grilled Maine lobster. Ahhh! It was so delish! Now I’m drooling just thinking about it.
DESSERT
And to finish it off, I ordered this Tuxedo Cake that the little one and I shared. The hubs was already full so he just had a bite. It was sinfully divine! Now I want one!
It was absolutely a wonderful birthday with great food and great company. I am so thankful and grateful for yet another year to live and enjoy life!

I’m not a fan of seafood, but I’m sure this is a great place for those that do love it. My father loves seafood, and I bet he’d enjoy going here. The dessert sure looks great!

I enjoy eating seafood occasionally. I prefer shrimp or crab legs. I am hoping that I can go out to the seafood restaurant with my husband soon.
