Happy Halloween!
It was in 2012 when we had our first pumpkin carving experience as family. It was fun and exciting but I must admit, it was a little exhausting. So happy with the results, though. Who wouldn’t be? They were cute, weren’t they? 🙂 And we got a lot of compliments about it and a lot of people who saw these photos really thought they were cute and that we did a great job.
We bought three pumpkins from a local pumpkin patch – large, medium and small – that represents the three of us.
I searched for templates online and there were a lot to choose from. It has been four years so I already forgot which website I got the templates from, but you can search on Google and it would give you a lot of choices.
I finally decided on these three after much thinking. They really looked so easy to make, but they weren’t. The husband did the biggest one, and I did the two small ones. Our son was only 10-years-old then so I just let him clean the guts out which he found so fun.
So this is the husband which he carved himself.
She looked so scared which is so me because I am such a scaredy cat. LOL.
And here’s the little one. He was a big fan of SpongeBob back then and this kind of looks like SpongeBob. Don’t you think so?
I put candles inside them and they sat right in front of the fireplace in the living room.
We haven’t carved jack-o-lanterns again after that, but we might one of these years. 🙂 I was thinking of carving three again earlier this month, but life has just been so hectic with my son’s activities and all.
How about you? When was the last time you carved jack-o-lanterns?

I LOVE to butcher pumpkins. I know they’re innocent, but it’s just so satisfying to cut them up and gut them. LOL

We haven’t done them since last year. This year my son decided he “outgrew” the pumpkin patch and carving! He’s had so much going on (little social butterfly!) we really didn’t have time to anyway.
And I see Spongebob in that pumpkin!

Hmm, we don’t really do pumpkin carving here in the Philippines. Sayang diba? I bet it’s a super fun thing to do plus it’s a nice family activity. Are those candles inside the pumpkins?
Lynndee says
Yup, Russ. Those were candles. 🙂

LOL! Your defenseless pumpkins look awesome! We murdered defenseless pumpkins too! Hope you had a happy Halloween!

Every year I crave at least one pumpkin and thing it is the best part of Halloween a side from handing out treats for the kids. My boys are young men so they don’t get into the pumpkin craving anymore too much. These are awesome pumpkins and I love the crooked mouth. Thanks for sharing your awesome pumpkins.

These turned out great. I showed my little one and he wants to do the Spongebob one next year. Great job.

This is too funny. Butchering pumpkins can be messy but also a lot of fun!

We like to go to the same pumpkin patch every year. The kids always have a pumpkin carving contest. I love to roast the seeds.

I haven’t carved a Halloween pumpkin in a very long time. I rather set them out on the porch before Halloween and leave them there until Thanksgiving. However, the teenagers often steal the pumpkins and smash them in the street. Uncool teenagers!

Those pumpkins bring back memories of when my kids were small. Now my grand kids carve them at their homes but I should try to do some here for them.

We don’t really celebrate Halloween so we never do all these exciting bits but you did a great job!

It’s a annual tradition with us, the kids LOVE it and now the littlest three are all about it as well. It’s really easy if you use a jigsaw to do the cutting.

The title of this post cracked me up! Your pumpkins came out great. It is not easy to carve pumpkins, but it looks like you have this down to a science!

I actually haven’t carved a pumpkin in a few years. This made me realize I have to change that!!

How adorable! It has been ages since I’ve carved a pumpkin since I’m not good at it. That’s why I have to paint mine. ~lol~

We usually carve traditional pumpkins every year, this year we went the creative route and made my daughter a Belle Pumpkin from beauty and the beast! It came out super cute
Heather Pfingsten says
Okay, so I’ve never thought about it as butchering pumpkins. Now I am rethinking next year’s festivities. BUT, it’s so fun, and pulling out their guts, and ahhhh…. I can’t help myself! 😉

Hahahaha! This title had me cracking up! Hope you had a great Halloween!
