Happy Food Trip Friday!
As I’ve mentioned on my Mother’s Day Weekend Wrap-up post last Monday, I’m now going to share the food that we enjoyed for dinner on Mother’s Day. So here you go!
I am certain now that the Corner Kitchen which is located at Biltmore Village here in Asheville is our favorite restaurant in the city. We’ve been there a few times already and, as usual, the food and the service did not disappoint.
We always want to check a new restaurant when we dine out and we were going to check this restaurant close to home which has received good reviews but when we called to make reservations, we found that they are only open for brunch on Sundays. We’ve been wanting to eat at that restaurant for months now, but whenever we plan on going there, they are either closed or they don’t offer dinner on that date. Maybe we’ll just have to grab us lunch there one of these days. So after learning that they weren’t open for dinner on Mother’s Day, I told the hubs that we’d just go to Corner Kitchen instead and that was it.
As usual, our son ordered his most favorite appetizer of all, the calamari. They call this their Crispy Corner Calamari and it is tossed with roasted peppers and onions, jerk seasoning and mango mayo.
Hubby’s appetizer…Corn and Crab Chowder with fresh cilantro. And he absolutely raved about this!
Coffee for the hubs.
And orange juice for the little one and I.
Both our son and my husband got the SC Mustard BBQ Glazed Pork Chop. It is served with braised collard greens and some kind of cornbread.
And this heavenly dish was to die for! I ordered halibut and that delicious piece of fish was hidden in those greens and it came with tomato rice. As soon as I saw the halibut on the menu, I knew right then that’s what I wanted to eat and it was so good I want to eat more right now!
Did you eat out on Mother’s Day? Do tell me about it. 🙂
Those pork chops are making me hungry. In fact, all of these dishes look like something I’d enjoy myself.
We were out of town on Mother’s Day, so yes, we did eat out. LOL It was such a great evening. I love going out to eat with the fam.
The corn and crab chowder sounds perfect with that arugula salad on the side! Perfection! We went to our favorite pizza place which was not planned but happened. I had a great mother’s day – daughter and her boyfriend who is like a son to me visited – we relaxed around the house, then had dinner. I am so glad yours was lovely too!
I love to go out to dinner with my family. This food looks so delicious I would love to give it a try.
This dinner looks and sounds so delicious. I love that chowder soup. Nothing is more comforting than a big warm bowl of soup.
We did not eat out for Mother’s Day. Instead my dad made surf and turf for my mom and I. My hubs had to work a very long day at the restaurant as Mother’s Day is the busiest day of the year for them.
All the dishes made me hungry. I also had a simple dinner with my family on Mother’s Day.
Hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day. The food looks amazing.
We had enchiladas at my mother in laws house. It was delicious.
Then we let the boys go swimming for a little bit. It was a perfect way to end the day.
That calamari looks good!! I haven’t had any in a while and now I NEED some!! LOL!!
It sounds like you all enjoyed your mother’s day dinner. These foods sound all very interesting. I wouldn’t like them because of the mayo and mustard but my family would. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
All of this food looks amazing! Looks like the perfect Mother;s Day dinner.
holy yum yum that food looks good (all of it!) what a nice place to go and enjoy a wonderful meal for Mama’s Day!
I hope you finally get to eat at that restaurant you’ve been eyeing. It looks like you had a great time dining here though. The food looks amazing! Thanks for the review!
What an amazing mother’s day dinner! The food just looks so DELICIOUS.
