As I mentioned on my “The Week that Was” post on Monday, I am going to share more about our end of school year celebration today for our kiddo who finished 8th grade with flying colors. Honestly, I can’t believe we’re going to have a high-schooler next school year! I’m like…where did the time go? But then again, I am excited for him. It’s going to be another chapter in his life and I have no doubt he’s going to do great in it. He has been doing great in school since he finished 2nd grade here in the U.S. after beginning it in the Philippines, and I could not be more proud of him.
Now off to the goodies that are the foodies. 😀
Since the celebration was for him, we asked him where he wanted to go and without any second thought, he answered, LongHorn Steakhouse. Among the restaurants here in the city, their calamari (his most fave appetizer of all) is the one that he thinks is the best.
We invited my husband’s sweet cousin, Barbara, to join us and it was so much fun to see her again and catch up.
SALADS
They served us bread with butter while we were waiting for our food. And then the salads were served. This came with the entree and both the hubs and I chose their house salad. I had Italian dressing while the hubs had Thousand Island dressing.
STARTERS
Our son’s sweet chili calamari.
My roasted white cheddar stuffed mushrooms.
The husband’s sweet corn fritters.
His cousin Barbara’s fried green tomatoes.
ENTREES
For our son’s entree, he chose another starter…the wild west shrimp.
I had the bedrock grilled shrimp…again with seasoned rice pilaf and mashed potatoes as sides. This was what I had the last time we were there too. Can’t help it. It’s just so good!
Barbara’s filet with the loaded Idaho baked potato as a side.
Hubby’s ribeye with the loaded Idaho baked potato as a side.
DRINKS
And of course…orange juice for the little one and I.
And sweet tea for both the hubs and his cousin Barbara.
It was definitely a great night with superb food and great company…just what our little kiddo deserved for making us proud all the time.

That sounds like it was so much fun! It’s always nice to celebrate milestones as a family, even if they’re just the fact that the kids don’t have school for a few months. LOL
