I have mentioned on my previous post that Valentine’s Day is one of the occasions that we look forward to celebrating every year. And we usually celebrate it as family. But having a teen sure does hold a lot of surprises which leads to changes in plans. He didn’t want to go to dinner (maybe because he prefers to go with his friends or a girlfriend perhaps). 🙂 So when he said that he didn’t want to go to dinner with us, Hubby and I decided to have a lunch date, instead of having dinner so as to escape the chaos and traffic.
We went to Gan Shan Station here in Asheville. It is a restaurant that serves Asian cuisine and is one of the most popular restaurants here in the city. I’ve had their Vegetarian Ramen before when the hubs bought it for me, but it was out first time to actually visit there. I’ve been wanting to go so when the hubs asked me where I wanted to go, I answered him without second thoughts…Gan Shan Station!
I chose their special for the day…Tofu Gai Lan Rice. Gai Lan is Chinese broccoli. Although there is a unique taste to it, it kind of reminded me of our garlic fried rice. The dish was so flavorful and so rich in flavor that with every bite I took I was trying to guess what seasonings they put into it. It was served in a bowl which was so big so I had to take home half of it which I had for dinner later on that day. Yum!
The chicken wings fan that he is, Hubby chose their Korean Style Chicken Wings. It was prepared with gochujang chili paste, lime and crisp garlic. He said they were so finger lickin’ good! I sure could tell because they were gone in a heartbeat!
There’s my date checking every corner of the restaurant. We sat at the patio because it was already full inside. And look how sunny it was. The temp outside was in the 60’s…perfect Valentine’s Day weather.
How was your Valentine’s Day celebration? I hope it was wonderful!
Have a great weekend!

That looks so good! We approach Valentine’s Day like we approach Thanksgiving and Christmas. Which means we eat until we pop. LOL

Looks like you had a nice night dining out. Glad you had an enjoyable Valentine’s Day dinner. I wish the weather in Michigan was nice enough we could eat outside right now but alas we have snow on the ground and temperatures in the teens.

The food sounds delicious. My son was the same way, he didn’t want to celebrate with us. I guess that happens when they get older.

I should have gone on a lunch date with my husband. Instead, I made chicken in the oven. It was delicious too.
