The best choices would be a grill or an oven. I personally prefer using an oven over a grill since it’s much safer and easier to use. But if you don’t have an oven in you home, a grill will do just fine.
- Foil
Regardless of your heat source, you will need to use a sheet of tin foil. This is actually the secret material that will help you avoid getting dried out ribs. This is also the reason why microwaves are out of the question. Do not ever try to reheat ribs in a foil with a microwave. Doing so will only cause a fire since foils spark up in microwaves. Just try to get enough foil to cover every bit of your ribs.
- Marinades or Sauces
The second secret to keeping your ribs juicy and tasteful when reheating are marinades and sauces. If you still have some extra sauce or leftover marinade for the ribs, those will do. If not, you can always make a quick barbecue sauce marinade with sweet ketchup and a couple tablespoons of soy sauce. You can also try using vegetables like onions to keep your ribs moist.
- Food Brush
The last thing you will need is a food brush. Sure you can also use a spoon to spread the sauces or marinade, but using a food brush is so much better since it will allow you to get into all the nooks and crannies in the ribs. Using one will also help you ensure that the ribs is evenly coated with the marinade or sauce.
Steps for Reheating Ribs
Once you have prepared all the ingredients, tools, and materials I have mentioned above, all that there’s left for you to do is follow these simple steps.
Step 1: Prepare the Oven or Grill
First and foremost, make sure that the oven or grill is completely clean. Make sure that there’s no ingredients left from the last use and give it a full wipe. After clearing the oven or grill, next thing you should do is preheat it.
Whether you’re using an oven or grill, preheat it to 120 degrees Celsius or 250 degrees Fahrenheit. For a couple of minutes. While you wait for it to get heated up, proceed to step two.
Step 2: Coat the Ribs in Your Marinade or Sauce
While the oven or grill gets all heated up, it’s time to cover your ribs in marinade or sauce. Using the food brush, completely coat the slab or pieces of ribs with your marinade or sauce. Make sure that you are generous with the marinade or sauce since this is what will keep your ribs from going dry. You can also add in bits of onions if you like for added flavor.
Step 3: Cover the Ribs in Foil
Once the ribs are all covered in your marinade or sauce, completely cover it up with foil. Place the entire slab or pieces of ribs inside on top of one sheet of foil. Cover it up with another sheet of foil and close up the edges by tightly rolling or folding them up. Doing this ensures that all the moisture gets trapped inside the foil, helping you avoid ending up with dried ribs.
Step 4: Reheat the Ribs in the Oven or Grill
Once the oven and grill are preheated and after you cover your ribs up in foil, the next thing to do is to place your ribs in the oven or grill. If using an oven, set your oven to its broil function and leave the ribs to get heated for 5 up to 10 minutes on each side. The same thing with the grill, just leave the ribs to heat up for 5 to 10 minutes on each side.
Step 5: Let the Ribs Rest before Serving
After 5 up to 10 minutes in the oven or grill, take out your ribs and let it rest inside the foil for another 5 up to 10 minutes. Do not get tempted to open up the foil just yet. It is important to let the ribs rest inside the foil after reheating to ensure the utmost juicyness of the ribs.
After resting the ribs, simply open the foil and serve. If there’s still marinades and sauces left, transfer it to a dipping plate.
