After sharing, ‘A Simple Guide to Meal Planning‘ a few days ago, I decided to share what our weekly meal plan next week looks like. I usually try my best to prepare balanced meals and incorporate different kinds of meat like beef, pork and chicken into the weekly menu. I also make sure that vegetables are on the table as well as seafood dishes because we love them.
I try to prepare and serve different dishes every week so I am always on the lookout for new dishes to try. But I must admit, I often prepare those dishes that we really love and enjoy so much more than once in a month, sometimes more so if one of the boys request it.
So anyway, here’s next week’s meal plan.
Sunday
Nilagang Baka or Filipino Beef Stew with Clear Broth
Sunday is usually a lazy day over here. So since it’s not a day for any household chores other than cooking, I choose this day for a dish that needs more time cooking like this Filipino Beef Stew with Clear Broth. As you know, beef takes a little time cooking for it to be tender so this is the best day to prepare it.
Monday
Plus… Roasted Brussels Sprouts for side dish.
This baked chicken tenders dish is our son’s favorite and he won’t mind having it every week. This was a recipe by Trisha Yearwood and trust me, since it’s kid approved, it must be good! Our son can be really picky so it was such a happy moment for me when I found a dish that he really loves.
Tuesday
This is one of the quickest and easiest to prepare dishes not to mention, so healthy. Easy cleanup too which is perfect for those busy nights.
Wednesday
Lefovers, quick-fix day.
More often than not, Wednesdays are designated as a leftover or quick-fix day unless there is a scheduled school activity or appointment this day; then I switch the days. But there is always a day for leftovers during the weekdays.
Thursday
Ginisang Monggo or Sauteed Mung Bean
Here’s another one of our favorite Filipino dishes and another kid approved dish.
Friday
This Garlic Shrimp plus the pilaf.
Both my son and I always have these dishes paired with steamed rice unless I prepare this pilaf. The hubs on the other hand eats rice sometimes, but being the southern boy that he is, he prefers to have mashed potatoes most of the time.
Saturday
Leftovers or pizza or takeout. But we limit the takeout to once a month and sometimes we don’t even have it in a month so it totally depends. And my husband has his own special way of preparing his store-bought pizza. He’s found an extra-thin brand at the local store that he loves. He always gets the pepperoni one. But then, he doctors it up to his liking. He not only puts extra pepperoni slices on it, he will buy small cans of mushroom pieces and sliced black olives to cover it with, as well as putting some extra shredded mozzarella on it. This dish sure makes those franchise pizzas look second class, and it’s sure cheaper!

In here, what dish to make the next day is always the question. I know we need this to do meal planning soon so it will be easier. Love the dishes you will have. The ginisang mongo is usually served on Fridays here. lol!

Nice week of meals! I am so bad at planning, I just kind of go with whatever we have. I am a terrible planner and need to be more organized!

We eat salmon weekly. We also have one day a week where we just eat the leftovers in the fridge. It helps make sure we don’t cook too much or too much food goes to waste.
