There’s 16 more days until the summer solstice, but there’s only 6 more days left of school for our teenager so we’re close to having some family summertime fun. Their classes ended late this year because of the all the snow days that they needed to make up for, but it’s okay because we got to enjoy some quality family time on those snow days too.
There are so many things to look forward to in the summertime and here’s what we have on our list.
1. Family Vacation
We always choose to have our family vacation in the summer. We’ve already talked about where we’re going this year and we all are so excited.
2. Warm Weather
There is just so many things to do and enjoy when the weather is warm.
3. Opening Windows
Let the breeze come in. I like welcoming and feeling the breeze; that’s why I don’t like having A/C in the living and dining room.
4. Summer Outfits
Shorts, flip flips, tank tops. Coming from a tropical country where this outfit was my go-to outfit every single day, I have always looked forward to wearing it and have so much joy the first time I can finally wear them after a long, cold winter which is something I’d never experienced until I came to America. LOL.
5. Longer Days
In my home country, the Philippines, sunrise is mostly around 6:00 in the morning and sundown is around 6:00 in the evening the whole year through. So seeing the sun still up there at around 8:00 in the evening is a delight.
6. Sleeping In
We can stay up late and sleep in because there’s no need to get up early to get our student ready. Yay!
7. Summer Movies
Already looking forward to watching movies coming out this summer with my boys. Also, anyone else looking forward to Christmas in July movies on Hallmark Channel? I know I’m the only one looking forward to watching them in our household. 🙂
8. Grilling
Steaks, hamburgers and sausages. Yum!
9. Road Trips
Other than our annual summer vacation, we also go for road trips. We’ll see where the warm weather is going to take us this year.
10. Going For A Walk
Going for a walk both for leisure and exercise. Hubby and I have already reached 7k before and we’re hoping to reach that 10k mark. Good luck to us!
11. Golf
One of the things on Hubby’s agenda this summer…play golf and more golf. And this is where we take the opportunity to count our steps too. We don’t always rent a cart so we can both walk and burn some calories.
12. Yardwork
Another thing that Hubby enjoys in the summer. He always make sure that the yard is looking good.
13. Ice Cream
We always scream for ice cream every single day of the year. We never run out of ice cream in the fridge. But it is in the summertime when we grab ice cream in the cone at the ice cream shop because it’s just fun to do it like that.
14. Soccer
Our son is going to try out for Junior Varsity next school year so he already has a schedule of soccer practices this summer with the other JV players and their coach. That’s how they are preparing for the try out for the coming fall soccer season.
15. 2018 FIFA Men’s World Cup
June 14 is the date and we already have it marked on our calendar. Our son is so excited to watch it and we couldn’t be more happy to watch it with him.
And that’s it!
What do you look forward to in summer?

We love the summer so much here, too. My husband is a HUGE fan of grilling, and we love to have parties as far into the summer as we can.

Our kids start their summer vacation this Friday – yay! We look forward to sleeping in, watching movies during the day, staying up at night, going to the zoo, going to the waterpark and going bowling.

I am also looking forward to the summer and mainly all these things are the reason for that, Harry and Lynndee. Summer walks and longer days make everything more enjoyable and magical!
