And here’s the continuation of my surprise birthday road trip. Took me a while, huh? The procrastinator in me. LOL.
Like I said on my previous post about that road trip, I am going to talk about Chimney Rock next. It is just right beside Lake Lure which we checked first.
I took this photo from Lake Lure Welcome Center. That’s Chimney Rock right up there. I was a little nervous when the husband told me that we’re going up there. Like, really? Up there? I would like to think that I am afraid of heights, but it was no biggy when we got there. More than anything, I was amazed of how great the views were. Not to mention, the beauty of the rock itself.
We parked at the parking lot near the entrance of the park and rode on a bus towards the top. Then we have to walk to the entrance to the rock. There’s our little kiddo in stripes.
Got to check the map and see where we were at.
Thanks to the elevator – going up was so fast it seemed like we were up there in a blink of an eye. And would you believe it is 16 storey high? I couldn’t believe it but that’s what the sign says. It made me feel like the elevator ride took us a minute only. It flew. LOL.
The amazing beauty from the top. I took this photo at the other side of the mountain. We went to this part after being at the rock and embracing the beauty of the surroundings for an hour or so. The lake is Lake Lure. Isn’t that beautiful?
And that’s why it is called Chimney Rock. It certainly looks like a chimney.
On our way out. Such a wonderful and amazing place to be in.
Have you been there? If not, you better check it out. Trust me, the trip is definitely worth it.
