And more often than not, unplanned trips turn out to be one of the best trips. That was how it went for us when we had an impromptu trip to the lake after an out-of-town trip on Memorial Day weekend.
It was my plan this time. We just arrived in the city from out of town and we headed to our favorite Chinese restaurant to take out some food for lunch to bring home. Although the town we went to was not that far – only an hour drive, still, I was a little tired to prepare lunch at home. Actually it was already way past lunch but still early for dinner. Supposed to be snack time already, but our tummies needed not only snacks but a heavy meal so that was it.
After getting our food at the Chinese restaurant, I didn’t feel like going straight home. It was a holiday weekend and I wanted to enjoy the outdoors some more. We don’t go out that much often so I thought why not make the most of it. And that was when I thought of going to the lake and have our lunch there. The lake is located close to home – about a mile and a half away.
