What an interesting and exciting experience it was, especially for me, being the news junkie I am. I remember when CNN first came on the air back in 1980. At that time, I had one of those huge 10′ satellite dishes in my backyard since cable was not yet available in the area where I lived. And once I discovered CNN, I was hooked.
Of great fascination was getting to watch Fredrika Whitfield doing her job, anchoring CNN Newsroom. Though blocked off by glass, there were speakers so we could hear her broadcast. What was interesting was to watch her when they broke away to show video, seeing her prep for when the camera would put her back on the air. That’s certainly something your never think about while watching on television, what they do while the news videos are playing.
All in all, it was a fascinating and educational experience. For sure, I’ll never again sit back and watch thinking what an easy job those people have, just sitting there and reading teleprompters, bringing you the news. ‘Tis not quite that simple.

After the tour, we browsed the souvenir store but we had to skedaddle and get going because our busy day was about to get even busier. Funny thing about vacations, isn’t it. Seems as if you need to get back home as soon as possible and get back to work before you can get any rest. But any thoughts of being tired were far from my mind because to me, the fun was just beginning and I could think of no better way to spend the evening and end the day than by rushing off to what awaited us next. And for that…you’ll just have to wait for Part 3.

Wow, how cool is that? My husband would be in his glory there.
He sounds like a guy like me. It truly was way too cool.
That looks amazing! Have you ever been to the Newseum in DC? I’ve heard that is also really fascinating.

No. We were in DC back in 2011 for her alumni reunion (imagine that, over 500 alumni from her Filipino university live here in the US!) but with all the scheduled activities we were unable to drift off and do much exploring on our own. But we have to go back there soon to renew her passport because she’s got a new last name now. Maybe we’ll get to check that out. Thanks for the heads up.
I think the between camera part would be the most interesting to me. I can just imagine the crazy shuffling that goes on!
Yes, that was definitely interesting. And she was a definitely an in-charge woman on top of her game.
What a cool thing! I’ve never thought about touring a newsroom/headquarters such as CNN before.
Definitely cool. Check one out if you ever get the chance.
WOW, That is so cool!!! What an amazing experience!!
Yes it was amazing, even though it was the second time I’d done the tour.
This looks like it was a great experience! It’s definitely on my to do list sometime in my lifetime i hope.
And I too hope you’ll get to do it.

Truly ’twas a super-dooper family experience.
What a cool place to visit! I would definitely love to see it one day!
Hopefully you’ll make it down that way someday and get to check it out.
That’s nice. Am sure it’s a hard job to be a newscaster or even the crew that works behind the camera.
They made it look easy but, then again, that’s their job.
It looks like so much fun! Love the nice photos, thanks for sharing 😀
‘Twas much fun! Thanks for checking my post out.

This is what I remember Atlanta for.
Oh wow, what a cool trip! I would love to visit.
What a great experience, hopefully I get to see this too one day.
This reminds me of my childhood dream. I wanted to be a broadcaster in a studio reading teleprompters and looking smart and presentable to viewers. Haha later I found out that there’s a lot to it than just reading the news. So I drifted to another course but still find journalism and all that amazing.
Such a great experience, I would love to visit CNN, have watched it for as long as I can remember I think back home we had more access to it than BBC
You must have had such an amazing time; I would have loved to go that tour myself!

I haven’t been to Atlanta in like 20 years. I hope to go there again sometime soon.
I spent several summers in Atlanta when I was younger since my grandparents lived there. This would have been a cool place to visit although I don’t think I would have appreciated it back then.
That does look like a great time. I would like to tour there. And the end made me laugh, we always say we need a vacation to recover from our vacation. 🙂
