We were “back to reality” yesterday after two weeks of holiday vacation for the little one plus the week he missed school because of the flu prior to the Christmas vacation. It can’t be denied now, the holiday season is finally over. I think I was in denial for a few days that it was over. Well, I think I am in denial until now because I am still going to talk about how we rang the New Year and how we celebrated the first day of 2015. (“,)
We have Christmas traditions and we also have our New Year traditions. For the fifth year in a row now, we had made it a tradition to eat at our fave Chinese buffet on New Year’s Eve. We love Chinese food and as a treat, we indulged in it on the last day of the year. Not bad at all, right?
And for fun, we always open our fortune cookies before we leave the restaurant.
And when we got home, we watched the Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve just like last year. It started just in time after we arrived home from the Chinese buffet. The show was fun. We managed to make it until midnight and saw the ball dropped at Time Square.
For those of you who have already been to Cracker Barrel, you do know that they also have a store where they sell country style goodies. Saw this one and I couldn’t contain myself. I was so amused I knew I had to take a photo to share.
I’m not at all into diet. I’ve been wanting so bad to gain a little weight actually. I am trying to convince myself to make it a goal this year, but it actually has been my goal for months now. Seeing that poster, it got me into thinking…maybe all I need is chocolate. Ha!
How did you ring in the New Year? Hope it was a blast. Happy 2015 y’all!

We have Chinese on Christmas Eve with hubby’s family. That’s a tradition with us and then exchange presents and of course we take turns who’s house it’ll be at. He only has one sister so it makes it nice. No biggy on our New Years Eve… hubby fell asleep promptly at ten this year and it was me and Ryan Seacrest once a year, but this year my son called me at ten after 12. That was the nicest surprised to start out my new year. He’s a good boy!
That is so sweet of him. (“,)
We have Chinese on NYE or Christmas Eve. This year was Christmas Eve. We don’t do much for NYE it’s usually a quiet time at home with the kids.sounds like you had some fun!
We surely had fun. Having Chinese on NYE is one of our traditions. (“,)
I rang in the new year sick, flu/pneumonia and I’m so bummed out that I missed out on all the fun. I’m going to have my new year fun regardless if it’s too late or not and I’m going to celebrate this weekend, lol. I love Cracker Barrel BTW and have spend hours browsing through everything they have. I buy a lot of Christmas ornaments in there because they sell them year round, as well as jewelry, candles and Burts Bee’s products.
I think it’s never too late to celebrate. Have fun celebrating it this weekend. (“,)
We called for Chinese on NYE and it was a 6 hour wait, so we ended up getting pizza instead. I am ok with that, though 🙂
Pizza is still good. (“,)
Good food and good wine are a good choice any time of the year! They just make everything better.
You bet! (“,)
We too called for Chinese on NYE and there was a huge wait. We were going to sit it out at home and then they called to say they had to stop. None for us, boo 🙁
Aww, I’m sorry about that.
Ahhhh.. I remember being with the family sharing good food and some best wine! But that was too long ago. I love the idea of having a feast when its Christmas or New Year’s Eve. When we were younger, we always had fun dining together, me and my siblings with mom and dad. But now, it’s rare and almost impossible to be with complete family members, since we’re all working at different cities… 🙂
Thank you for sharing this!
I am a thousand miles away from my parents and siblings too so we haven’t celebrated the holidays for four years in a row now. Hopefully this year, we get to celebrate it with them. (“,)
Ahhhhhh we had a Chinese new year a few years ago!! We were traveling back from visiting family so that evening Chinese and wine it was!!
Looks like a lot of people love having Chinese during the holidays. (“,)
I had a great New Years celebration. We always go to my sister in laws for the evening. It is also my nieces birthday so we celebrate both.
Good to know that, Ann. (“,)
hahhaha you’ve got to love the quote lol i feel the same, the new year blues are definitely setting in here but next week will be too busy at work to indulge them so all good.
I know, right? The quote is just too funny not to share. (“,)
We spend NYE at my inlaws and spent the night. Love the chocolate sign
Too funny, right? (“,)
Isn’t that the truth? ( about the chocolate bar jumping out?) happens to me all the time 🙂
Haha. It could be.
I need that sign in my house! Too funny. But a good wine deserves to be paired with a good wine. And cheese. Don’t forget the cheese 😉
Oh, we forgot the cheese. Next time. (“,)
Staying up late, sleeping in if you can, snuggling… Yep, that sounds like a great time. Happy New Year to you!
Happy New Year to you too! (“,)
That sign is awesome! Honestly though, it doesn’t get much better than chocolate and wine!
I think so too! (“,)
Sounds like you had an awesome New Years.. I love the message in the cookie, I like to keep those messages in my wallet.. I’m still waiting to get rich like the one told me, haha. I need that sign in my life, that’s so true!
It’s always fun to read what’s written in those fortune cookies. (“,)
You can never go wrong with chinese food no matter what time of year it is! Your NYE was very similar to mine 😉
I couldn’t agree more with you. We love Chinese! (“,)
Good food, good company, prayer and a grateful heart was my start to 2015. It’s going to be awesome. 😉
Love that attitude! (“,)
I love Chinese food and we made sure we enjoyed some before the year ended. Sounds like you both had a great time.
We certainly had a great time. (“,)
We do Chinese on Christmas Day and have been for many years. Funny how some traditions stick. I ate salad for NYE. Not so exciting!
I know, right? (“,)
What a fun and laid-back New Years it sounds like you had! And great fortune. 😉 I went to a Chinese restaurant over the holidays as well, and my fortune said something like “stop sitting around and do something” (reality = au contraire), so I had to laugh. Also love the chocolate placard, sounds like a phenomenon that happens around the world! 😀

It was surely fun. Sounds like you had a fun too. (“,)
What a great fortune cookie, great message too! Happy new year to you, wishing you a wonderful year 🙂 You guys had a great New Year!
Great message indeed. Perfect to start the new year. Have a wonderful 2015 to you as well. (“,)
I absolutely love that sign and want it in my kitchen haha. Happy New Year, I passed out before 10… It’s sad what a new born will do to your sleep but I wouldn’t change it for the world!
I certainly wouldn’t change it for the world too. (“,)
I’ve heard a lot of people say they eat Chinese food on New Year’s. I wonder why that is? Maybe it’s because no other restaurants are open?
I am not sure about that. It’s a challenge looking for open restaurants on Christmas Day around here but not on New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day. It just so happened that we enjoyed the food when hubby brought us there on our first NYE here in 2010. It became a tradition since then. (“,)
What a very cool fortune cookie to get! When I got one like that, I post it on the refrigerator for inspiration. I like looking at these positive words of wisdom from time to time. We had a low-key New Years, but I look forward to everything that 2015 has to bring.
Sounds like you had a really great New Years. We didn’t do much it was pretty low key.
Chinese food is everything. That’s a great idea to enjoy it on the last day of the year. I’ll think of something like this to do for my family this New Year’s Eve. Oh, and great fortune cookie.
Hubby and I just recently incorporated wine into our dining so it is kind of a new things for us this year. I must admit, I starting to like it.
I like wine that is semi-sweet and my husband drinks every night. That’s great fortune cookie to start a new beginning.
