I love watching movies even just on TV, news, magazine shows and game shows like Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. And of course I love the talk shows hosted by ladies: Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah. This is something that the husband and I both have in common. I was never into watching television series. Even back home in my home country, the Philippines, I was never into Telenovelas which a lot of people were so into including my mom.
I was just flipping through the channels one afternoon and I came across “Grey’s Anatomy.” And that’s when a television series came into my life. My husband was flipping through the channels as well when he came across some series on TNT. Shows that he found so interesting just by watching the teasers. And so it began, our DVR became full of recorded television series that we watch whenever we get the time, but mostly on the weekends.
So how’s our television viewing so far?
Here’s a list of what the three of us have watched since last year:
1) The Last Ship (TNT)
The husband talked about it here on the blog previously. It was a very entertaining show full of action. “McSteamy” from Grey’s Anatomy or Eric Dane was the Captain of the ship in the series. How handsome can any captain get? We can’t wait until the series continues next season.
2) Legends (TNT)
Another action-packed show which stars Sean Bean There were a lot of twists and turns in this series which made it so exciting. The term legend refers to the undercover names and identities used by the main character who is an FBI agent. And just like The Last Ship, there’s another season coming to look forward.
3) How to Get Away with Murder (ABC)
This show which stars the amazing actress Viola Davis was for my eyes only since my husband and son didn’t watch it. The teaser was just so captivating that I told myself, I am not going to miss that series. I am certainly going to watch it. Unfortunately, the show starts at 10 o’clock which is past our bedtime of 9 o’clock. (We go to bed early during school days.) So what I did was record it on the DVR and watch the episode the following day. Well, glad I did because the show surely wasn’t for kids. I wanted the husband to watch it too but he never got around to do it until it finally reached its winter finale. So I just told him the story. Now I’m waiting for January 29 when the new season begins.
4) Transporter (TNT)
Another action-packed series for the three of us. Although some of the scenes maybe unbelievable, I still find the show entertaining. Not to mention, actor Chris Vance is such a cutie you want to watch him kick those villains’ asses. LOL. Peace, hubby! We are watching the second season now and we will continue to watch it..
5) The Librarians (TNT)
The librarians are Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth and John Kim. Our son loves mythology so when he saw the teaser of the show, he asked us to watch it. The three of us have been enjoying it immensely. It’s so fun to watch!
6) Grey’s Anatomy (ABC)
Lastly, the show that keeps me company in the afternoon. They are showing reruns on Channel 749 on Charter and since I hadn’t seen any of them, I keep on watching it.
We are by no means couch potatoes. We just love to entertain ourselves with TV watching whenever we get the chance and whenever there is something that tickles our fancy.
Is there any television show that you’ve been hooked into watching lately? Or a television show perhaps that you loved to watch in the past?
Tanya Coffman says
Lately I’ve been watching Leverage and the Gilmore Girls…entire seasons from Netflix lol both make me laugh 😀
I think I’ve seen an episode of Gilmore Girls before. But that was it. (“,)
I watched The Librarians for the first time last night. It was pretty good. I love to watch the show Sleepy Hallow.
I’ve seen clips of Sleepy Hallow, but never watched it. I might check it out one of these days.
How to Get Away with Murder is SOOOOO good. We started The Librarians, but gave it up already. We were very, very disappoined with it.
It was SOO good. Can’t wait for the new season! (“,)
I’m a big fan of The Walking Dead. The characters and their motivations are amazing. Plus, there’s zombies. =D
Hubby doesn’t like it at all. My son and I watched a marathon once. (“,)
I am backing you up 100% on Grey’s Anatomy. That is one of my all-time favorite shows, I even got my husband hooked on it.
Haven’t gotten my husband hooked on it though. (“,)
Sadly I haven’t gotten into any of your shows, but our DVR is like yours…always recording something we love. I hate the talk shows, but love TV series
Our DVR is always busy. It’s not only recording television series, but movies too. (“,)
I used to watch Grey’s a lot. I was recently addicted to Dexter but it’s not much of a family show!
I’ve heard about Dexter, but never watched it. (“,)
I’m going to have to add The Librarians to my list of want to watch on Netflix! I’ve got a scifi/fantasy streak a mile wide, so it sounds like it might be right up my alley.
You should. (“,)
Ahhhhhh its so strange… I usually don’t watch that much TV but I’ve been hooked on Once Upon a Time on Netflix lately!
We’ve actually seen a couple episodes of Once Upon a Time. It was entertaining as well. (“,)
The Last Ship was one of me and hubby’s must watch shows this past season. Grey’s Anatomy has been on my list since day one!
Good to know that. (“,)
Big fans of The Walking Dead right here, we watch every episode! Also keeping up with Supernatural as well.
My in-laws are fans of The Walking Dead as well. And a friend of mine is hooked into Supernatural. My son and I actually watched a marathon of The Walking Dead once. (“,)
I have been mainly watching the reality tv shows like the bachelor! I need to get into some other shows it sounds like.
I used to watch the Amazing Race. Just remembered that. But not religiously like these television series here. (“,)
Ahh, I’m not into telenovelas that much too! I just enjoy a couple of them…
I can not live without my DVR and have had it since I switched to Charter. I love watching The Black List it is filled with action and excitement I believe. It is actually a thriller too. Thanks for sharing.
I haven’t heard of The Black List. I will check that one out. (“,)
Beleive it or not I have not turned on my TV for well over a year now! The only show I actually enjoy is NCIS. Well maybe one of these days I will put down the book I am reading at the time and watch some TV.
My husband reads a lot too, but he always makes time to watch these TV series or movies with us. (“,)
I used to watch Grey’s Anatomy but haven’t seen any of the latest..
My husband is obsessed with The Librarians. It does look interesting, but I haven’t really gotten that into it yet.
It’s really fun to watch! (“,)
I’ve never been one to watch a lot of TV although I keep them on in every room. However, since my 5 week illness began, I could do little but lay around and watch TV and now I’m hooked on many shows lol. I’ve even watched all of the WWII series on Amazon Prime. I love Grey’s Anatomy.
WWII series? That is something that my boys would really enjoy watching although they’ve seen a lot of WWII documentaries, etc. already. (“,)
We started watching Last Ship and never kept up with it. I love How to Get Away with Murder. It reminds me of a few movies and books I really enjoyed many years ago.
How to Get Away with Murder was really good. Can’t wait for the next season to begin! (“,)
I used to watch a lot of shows but now I’m pretty much down to two or three. I felt they were dictating my life, even with DVR. You know you have a problem when you start stressing over a television show you missed!
Fortunately, we haven’t gotten to that stage yet. LOL.
I’ve never seen Grey’s Anatomy. I have a friend who loves it like no other though!
I haven’t seen Grey’s Anatomy in years but my daughter is going through all the seasons and is hooked. Great show when it started.
I love TNT programs. The transporter is just a classic. I am a huge fan of it.
Good to know that, Manu. We are fans now too. (“,)
Sounds interesting. I have heard about this show, but never seen this before. Your review infuses me to watch it for sure. Will give a try. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Lisa. (“,)
I watch a lot of Team Umizoomi, Go Diego Go and Dora the Explorer haha. That’s because I have 2 children who are into it. I am careful not to watch adult shows or even news around them especially if it has adult contents and violence. If they are in school or napping then I could watch Dr. Phil.
I used to watch those shows too when my son was younger. That said, I forgot to include what my son loves to watch for months now…Full House. (“,)
Since having my twins, I don’t watch that much television when it’s actually on. I do DVR a lot! A lot of great show ideas here though!
They’re all very entertaining. Check them out. (“,)
Don’t watch too much t.v. but I love watching the occasional episode of Parks and Recreation. I’ll try checking out some of these shows!
That one is going to end soon, right?
I don’t watch much TV ( local – don’t like the telenovelas as well and cable ), but I do have all these DVDs of series. I’ve had a lot of friends recommend How to Get Away with Murder as well. I just haven’t gotten a copy of it. I’ll go check out The Librarians, seems like something I’d try. You might want to check out Suits one time.
I think I saw the teaser of Suits. We’ll check that one out. Thanks. (“,)
Great post! We don’t watch a lot of shows on TV, we mainly watch things on Netflix. I’m watching Pioneer Woman right now:)
That sounds like a good show. But we don’t have Netflix. (“,)
Visiting from an Alexa thread…I watch ANYthing that’s on the Food Network! Also, I’m waiting for season 3 of ‘Orange is the New Black!” 😉
Thank you for stopping by, Lisa. I also have shows that I love watching on HGTV from time to time. I’ve seen clips of Orange is the New Black but never got to watch it.
Ow sounds like a great bonding with your family!! That’s a great idea thank you!
Yup, it’s one of our bonding moments. (“,)
I love How To Get Away With Murder after Scandal. I am loving Empire right now too!
I watched a couple episodes of Scandal and that was it. I have to check Empire. (“,)
We love to watch cooking shows! We have never watched Oprah.
I love watching cooking shows as well like ‘The Chew’ but not as religiously as we watched the series. (“,)
I never watch any of those TV series. When I’m visiting my in-laws,MIL and I watch HGTV series. Grey’s Anatomy caught my attention sad to say hubby is not into it so I’m watching zombie’s TV series.hehehe
I am a huge fan of Ellen and i’m sad when I miss her show. I work nights so usually have to watch re-runs.
We don’t usually watch a lot of shows together but my kiddo really enjoys Once upon a time and Gotham. I think its the batman and fairy tale thing.
I love your list of series! I watch way to many shows, but I do enjoy them!
