Our hectic weekend made me dream of a vacation. A vacation like what we had in Atlanta, Georgia back in 2012. The hubby talked about all the attractions we’ve checked and how great a time we had there. Today, I thought of making a summary of those attractions for easy access. I also linked each photo to each post that he did telling of our awesome vacation.
These are not the only attractions that you can see and enjoy in Atlanta, but these were the only ones that we crammed into our four day stay there. And that’s why we can’t wait to go back and check the other attractions that we didn’t get to see. I am hoping we get to do it this year. If not, next year maybe? Only the hubs can answer that! 😉
Fox Theatre
This view of the Fox Theatre was taken from our hotel window. We didn’t watch any shows while we were there, but I just thought I’d mention Fox Theatre because this was the beautiful view that we get to see everyday. The theatre used to be a movie palace and is now a performing arts venue.
World of Coca-Cola
If you’re a big fan of Coke and Coke collectibles, this is the place for you. It’s all things Coke in this place full of not only history but fun and arts for the whole family. You can buy your tickets ahead online like what we did, and we’re lucky the line or queue wasn’t that long when we got there. This place is located right next to Georgia Aquarium.
Atlanta Cyclorama & Civil War Museum
An amazing place for history buffs and not history buffs alike. I don’t consider myself a history buff at all like the hubs but I was amazed over this place. You get to experience rotating stadium seats in their theater while listening to the surround sound of the history of the battle of Atlanta being told while staring at the gigantic painting on the wall. That was the kind of story-telling that would make even kids wide-eyed. Tickets can be purchased at the museum and parking was free.
CNN World Headquarters
I used to wonder how a news center worked. And I was enlightened here. There is a tour guide that will guide you through. He will show you rooms and explain how they are used. After the tour, you can stay and continue exploring the building yourself. Tickets can be purchased online, and there is a parking garage nearby.
Turner Field
This has been the home ballpark of the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball since 1997. Hubby has been a fan of the Braves for years and he totally influenced me and my son in that aspect. Game tickets can be bought online as well as parking tickets.
Zoo Atlanta
The biggest zoo that we’ve ever been to. The zoo is one of the four zoos in the U.S. that currently has giant pandas. It is located just right beside the Atlanta Cyclorama and Civil War Museum. Tickets can be purchased at the gate. Parking was free.
Underground Atlanta
This is not only a shopping and entertainment district. They also have displays of awesome vintage cars. No tickets to be purchased, and there is parking area on the side.
Click on photos for more information about each of the attractions.

We will be driving down that way in a couple of weeks. I am hoping to stop and visit the sights along the way.

Good to know, Terry. Hope you will have a great time. 🙂
I am going to savannah this summer, but not sure I’ll have time to get to Atlanta. It’s on my bucket list, though.
I would love to visit Savannah too. My SIL said it’s a beautiful place full of history. Someday, I hope. 🙂
Wow! I’d heard Atlanta was beautiful, but I had no idea there was so much to do. It looks like an awesome place to vacation with the family 🙂
It certainly is an awesome place for a vacation, and there are more to see other than the ones I’ve listed here. 🙂
Whoa, I seriously had no idea Atlanta had so much stuff – consider me naive! I’m only new to the USA 🙂
I was naive too when we went there because I had only been in the U.S. for more than a year that time. Thanks to the hubs for taking us there. 🙂
Hotlanta is the best city on earth! Of course, since I live here, I might be biased. 😉
Too funny! 😉
I love Atlanta. I used to live there and my BFF lives in a condo in midtown. You can see the Fox from her bank of windows. I have such fond memories of all of the places you mentioned. I remember going to Underground Atlanta for the first time when I was 12. Thanks for the memories. I haven’t visited in a few months and I miss it.
Aww, I’m glad I brought back memories. 🙂 We love Atlanta and we hope to go back someday.
Atlanta is absolutely one of my favorite cities to visit. It’s alive in a way that most other cities just aren’t.
It’s one of my favorite cities too and it’s a special city for us because it’s where we first set foot when we arrived here in the U.S. 🙂
The only place in Atlanta I’ve been in is the airport for a connection flight. It looks like it is a beautiful place! I’m going to have to take a trip there sometime soon and see for myself!
You should. I think you will love it. 🙂
Thanks for sharing all these amazing places to stop at! I can’t wait to visit them all 😀
You’re welcome, Tanya. 🙂
Zoo is always a fun place to go especially when you have kids. Hope to explore Atlanta someday!
I totally agree. It’s always fun to visit the zoo. 🙂
We don’t live that far from Atlanta and it would be fun to take a day and explore it. We drive through lots of times but have never stopped to explore it.
You should explore because there are so much to see in the city. 🙂
I used to live near Atlanta when I was child and wonder if I my mom ever took me to that zoo. Seems familiar.
She probably did. 😉
That would be fun to tour CNN. I used to go to the outlet mall with a sister-in-law in Atlanta. I remember her getting beautiful prom dresses for her girls for under $20. #crazy!
You bet, it was really fun touring CNN. 🙂 Well, that’s a great deal you’ve got for that prom dress. Good job!
Atlanta definitely looks like a good time. I can’t wait to visit there someday.
We definitely had a great time! 🙂
They have so much to offer in Atlanta. I’d love to head down there with my sister for a visit!
Atlanta certainly has a lot to offer. You should visit with you sister. 🙂
SUch amazing places, will give them a try next time I go to Atlanta!
You should. 🙂
I’ve always loved Atlanta’s sights! I can’t wait to visit them all again this year!
We can’t wait to visit Atlanta again either. Not sure if it will be this year though. 🙂
I have been through Atlanta several times over the years. However, I haven’t taken the time to visit it since I was a child. That shall change sometime soon!
Good to know, Hilesha. 🙂
I’ve never been to atlanta, but it sounds awesome! Thanks for the fun review!
You’re welcome, Lauren. 🙂
Atlanta is a very special place for me. I have so many good memories of Atlanta! Hope I can come and visit again!
Good to know, Pauline. I do hope you can visit the city again. 🙂
A friend moved out to Atlanta last year and we went for a visit. Unfortunately, we spent most of our time shopping and I didn’t get to see the sights! I can’t wait to go back!
We can’t wait to go back too. 🙂
Atlanta is a great place to visit. However, I was there in August one year and it was 110 degrees. It was so hot, but at night the temperature went down into the 80s and it was just fine. We ate at some great southern restaurants and enjoy many of the sites in the evening time.
There’s ‘Hotlanta’ for you. 😉 I think it got to more than 100 degrees too when we were there. But coming from a tropical country, I am used to high temps like that. 🙂
Looks like a great place to visit. I would love to take my family there to see some of your attractions you visited. Looks like fun!
You should, Michelle. We really had fun! 🙂
I’ve been in Atlanta and I love the area-though staying in downtown atlanta the hotel cost more. My daughter likes the zoo there.Hopefully we can go back there.
We did stay at a hotel in downtown Atlanta, but we got a great deal for it. Check for hotel deals and compare prices next time you go there. That’s what I always do when we go somewhere for a vacation. 🙂
Atlanta seems so awesome! I’ve always wanted to visit!
Atlanta is awesome! You should go and visit. 🙂
I went to Atlanta years ago when the Olympics were held there so unfortunately we didn’t have a lot of time for sightseeing. That aside, I’d love to go back there for a real visit.
That is awesome! I would love to see the Olympics and feel the spirit. 🙂
I’ve always wanted to check out Atlanta. Looks like there’s a lot of things to check out too!
There are definitely a lot to check out in Atlanta. 🙂
Atlanta looks like a beautiful place to visit. I will have to see if i can get there this summer when i am in that area.
I hope you get to visit Atlanta this summer. 🙂
Vintage cars in downtown? It sounds like a trip both my hubs and I would definitely enjoy as that’s one of our favorite hobbies. It’s nice to know there is so much variation in Atlanta, I would of never thought of half these things like the vintage cars.
Just remember to visit Underground Atlanta if you want to see those vintage cars. 🙂
Looks like a great place Atlanta! I’ve never been but it’s great to see there’s lots to do there if we ever head on over!
It’s a great place, without a doubt. You should include it on your bucket list. 🙂
Atlanta is such a fun city!!! So much to do for both little ones and adults! cocoa cola is probably a favorite of mine!!
I couldn’t agree more with you, Courtney Lynne. 🙂
My aunt and uncle lived in Atlanta for five years and now I regret not paying them a visit! That is a must see place! Thank you for sharing. I may just plan a trip there with my fam! 🙂
Yup, it certainly is a must-see place. Hope you get to visit the city someday with your fam. 🙂
I have been to Atlanta a few times, but never really got the chance to fully explore it. I would like to visit more of the city the next time I go.
I hope you get to explore the city next time. 🙂
I’ve never been to Atlanta but I’ve heard it’s a great place to visit! I’d love to check it out for myself sometime in the future!
It’s certainly a great place. I hope you get to visit it someday.
We may be planning for a vacation this summer. I would really love to visit Atlanta. We tend to go to Myrtle Beach SC when we go down south so it would be a nice change.
We would love to visit Myrtle Beach one of these days. My home city is by the sea and I miss the fresh air coming from the ocean. 🙂
I’ll keep this list in mind for when I eventually visit Atlanta. I know my husband will want to go to Turner Field, since he is a lifelong Braves fan!
That is so cool! We love the Braves! High-five to your hubs. 😉
One of my best friends lives in Atlanta and I love visiting her!! Atlanta is such a fun place!!
Totally fun! 🙂
I’ve never been to Atlanta before, but there seems to be some interesting things to do there.
You’re right! I hope you get to visit someday. 🙂
I’ve flown through Atlanta several times but I have never made it a destination. I will definitely have to do that soon.
You should, Cherri. 🙂
When I was living in Myrtle Beach, SC, my fiancee and I would travel to Atlanta now and then during baseball season to catch my Phillies (I’m originally from NJ) play the Braves! Always a great time!
When we there, we watched two consecutive games (Friday and Saturday) against the Phillies and the Braves won both games. I do wonder if you and your fiance were there during those days. 😉
I’ve been to Atlanta twice, but don’t remember it at all. The first time I was 2… the second time I was 5. All I remember was going to the Olympics. Guess I need to go back!
I guess you really need to go back. 🙂
My in-laws live outside Atlanta now. We visited the aquarium, but not much else! The next time we visit, we will have to check out your suggestions!
You should. We didn’t go to the aquarium because we’ve already been to the National Aquarium in Baltimore, Maryland. 🙂
I love Atlanta! I used to live there for years and I didn’t even get to see all of this. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
You’re welcome, Tonya. 🙂
The World of Coca Cola and the CCN World Headquarters are two places that I would love love love to see. How long’s the CNN tour?
The CNN tour took about 55 minutes. 🙂
My best friend lives in Atlanta now and I need to visit her – now I know what to visit as well whilst I am there! Thank you!
You’re welcome, Sara. 🙂
The zoo is a lot of fun! I have always wanted to visit the world of Coke! I’m an addict!
Zoo is always a lot of fun to visit. 🙂
I lived in Atlanta about 9 years and loved going to some of these places. Some I’ve only seen from the outside. The World of Coke was my favorite though.
Good to know, Reginia. I love the World of Coca-Cola too. Love them all actually. 🙂
I wanna got here. I have many places i still wanna travel.
We have so many places that we want to visit too. 😉
I’ve only been to Atlanta once, but it was for a conference. I would love to go and explore some of these places you mentioned.
You should, Shannon. 🙂
I’ve passed though Atlanta so many times but never actually stopped. One of these times we need to stop and check some of these things out.
You should, Danielle. 🙂
