And here’s the last part of the series. I know I kind of kept you hanging when I said on Part 3 that the next one might not be the last. But I have decided to put all the remaining story on this post.
To give you a recap on this series, I’ve talked about all the huge aircraft that were located outside the museum on Part 1. Then Part 2 focused on one single plane – US Airways Flight 1549: Miracle on the Hudson. I believe that plane deserved a post of its own. Don’t you think so too? And part 3 was all about military aircraft.
Today, let’s see all these awesome civil aircraft and have a little trip down memory lane.

The Wright Flyer
This plane was the first plane that was piloted which was designed by Orville and Wilbur Wright. The first time it flew was in 1903 at Kitty Hawk in North Carolina. I do remember reading the story about this plane when I was in elementary. Never in my wildest dream that I thought I would see it up close, though this was actually a replica. The original 1903 Wright Flyer is on display in the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. Still, what a surreal moment that was.

Savoia Marchetti
There are only two of this Italian designed plane in the world and yes, the Carolinas Aviation Museum has one. Isn’t that amazing?

Cessna 150L
This plane is used by flight schools to train future pilots. How cool, right? This plane was small that the little one thought he could fly it. I think I have a kiddo who wants to be a pilot someday. 🙂

Sopwith Camel
This plane was displayed inside the souvenir shop. I just love the color of this plane. I’ve never seen a plane that is so colorful like this. This one, however, was not a civilian aircraft. It was a British bi-plane that became famous in WWI.

Hangar Before

Hangar Now
Seeing how the hangar looked before and how it looked now was fascinating. You see these huge pictures before entering the museum where all the aircraft are.

There’s my boys reading and learning.
These two read all the displays of each and every plane in the museum. I only read a few because I was so busy taking photos. 🙂
We certainly had a blast at the Carolinas Aviation Museum. And I am more than happy that it opened more knowledge to our little kiddo and his growing mind. The look on his face as soon as we entered the museum was priceless.
I hope you all enjoyed the series. And if you haven’t been to the Carolinas Aviation Museum in Charlotte, North Carolina yet, trust me, it is so worth the trip!
We’ve been visiting alot of aviation museums lately, as our oldest is working on his pilot’s license. He’s flown a Cessna 172, very similar to the one in your picture, but older, lol! It really is neat to see all of the different kinds of aircraft and what they’re used for!
That sounds like you guys had such a fun time. I know for a fact that my boys would love it there.
I am so loving this series on the aviation museum you’re doing. I think planes are one of the most amazing inventions of the modern world.
My son would love this. He’s absolutely obsessed with planes. I think they’re pretty cool, too!
Whenever I see a Sopwith Camel I think about Snoopy…World War flying ace! This is such a wonderful museum with all of the unique planes.
Wow that really is a beautiful and interesting museum! Thank you so much for the great post and photos 🙂
I have a pilot friend who owns a flight school in the Charlotte area (only an hour from where I live) and I wonder if he’s ever visited the aviation museum. This is a must-do trip for the grandkids this summer. They will love it.
What an awesome place to visit! I love going museums and this one looks really cool, must have had a really great time.
I definitely need to make it out to this museum. It’s not too far of a drive and I’d love to learn more about these planes.
This looks like you had a great time. It looks like a good place to take the family. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us.
I’ll be sure to visit this museum next time my family and I are in North Carolina. I know that my son would love this.
My husband had always wanted to become an airplane pilot as a kid. I bet he’d love to go to one of these museums and just look around.
This place looks so neat to me. My father in law was a B-24 tailgunner in WWII so all these things are so cool for me.
This sounds like a lot of fun! We are in NC too, and need to put this on our bucket list!
This place is so much fun! I’m about 2 1/2 hours from Charlotte. There is a lot to do around that way, it’s definitely entertaining.
It is amazing to see the old planes and to compare them to today’s technology. Planes are constantly improving and it won’t be long before a plane will be able to fly all by itself.
I think my nephews would definitely love to visit the Carolinas Aviation Museum! I took them to see the Intrepid while they were here in NYC and they loved it as well. I definitely relate to being so busy taking pictures you feel like you may have missed actually enjoying the moment while you were there right? 🙂
This sounds like you all had an amazing time indeed. We love museums because they hold history and history is something that has always interested my whole family. I would love to visit here some day. Thanks for sharing.
This looks like such an amazing place to visit. I cannot wait to take my daughter here one day.
Looks like a great museum, they have something like this where I live but my girls were a little to young to understand. Maybe I’ll try taking them again this year! Thank you for sharing.
Looks like such a great place to visit. I know my kiddos would absolutely love it. They are all so fascinated by planes and everything about them. This would be great.
I love visiting museums. I learn so much myself and it’s such an educational trip for kids. This one looks awesome.
Aircraft museum is such a fun place to explore especially with boys. I love seeing the different kinds of planes amd halos.
Sounds like a fun day. My boys would have a blast in an avaiiation museum.
Omg this would be such a great place to take my daughter! She would have a blast looking at all the planes!
We love all sorts of museums but haven’t been to one like this. Looks so fun.
Fuuuuuuun! I just love museums like this one! I bet my boys would have a blast there!
What a cool museum!! I bet it was neat to see the birth of flight and learn so much about the early planes!!
What a cool place to visit with the kids, especially if they’re into airplanes like my son is!
That sounds like such an awesome place to visit! I love aviation museums!
I visited this museum when I was in 8th grade but haven’t been back since! Nice to see that it still stands.
It’s so hard to believe that some of these planes were huge advancements at one time. We’ve come so far and learned so much, it’s always amazing!
Sounds like this was a lot of fun! <3 Gosh, it makes me wish I was there too.. I love seeing things like this personally.
