It’s that time again for my monthly recap. And as usual, it feels like the end-of-the month sneaked up on me, and before I knew it, I have to give you the month’s recap again. 😉
It has been another busy month for us and generally, all was good although there was one little scare. Our son hit his head while playing soccer at school and the school nurse was afraid he got concussion. But after observing him, we are happy that he avoided that. We were so thankful.
Blog wise, we dined, we reminisced and we did some traveling. Here’s the recap.
FAMILY
May was the end of Spring Soccer. It was our son’s fourth season in soccer and soon enough, it is going to be time to register for Fall Soccer. We are all so looking forward to the next season.
May has been such a busy month for our kiddo. He also had his intermediate school concert band’s Spring Concert in the second week. It was a success just like their Winter Concert and I couldn’t be more prouder of him. I love that he loves being in the concert band so much. Hubby’s daughter is also into playing musical instruments and we watched her play the marimba on Memorial Day Weekend.
April showers bring May flowers. I never had a flower garden until I got here in the U.S. and I surely didn’t know that I had a green thumb. I am so loving flower gardening now.
And how can I not forget about hubby’s post about one of his favorite authors, Ray Bradbury? Bradbury, together with an angel librarian, introduced him to W.B Yeats who also became one of his favorite authors and poet. Hubby and his books!
FOOD
I shared another favorite Filipino dish of mine which is not only easy to make, but a healthy dish as well – the Ginisang Ampalaya or Sauteed Bitter Melon.
We had a taste of Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. when we went to Gatlinburg, Tennessee for a day and you gotta love the “I’m Stuffed Shrimps.”
And what’s not to love about Outback Steakhouse? Hubby definitely aced that one when he chose it for my Mother’s Day dinner treat. Now I am continually thinking of that Bloomin’ Onion.
Lastly, for the first time since we got here in the U.S., we finally got to sample a Filipino Restaurant. We had to travel over a hundred miles for it, but it was so worth the trip. I can’t wait to go back!
TRAVEL
We made a road trip to Charlotte, North Carolina on Memorial Day Weekend and visited the Carolinas Aviation Museum. I’ve only shared a part of that trip to the museum, and I still have a lot to share.
But before we made that trip, I talked about the World War II Warbirds which actually gave me that idea of visiting the museum because I know for certain that our son would be delighted and I was right. It delighted both me and the hubs too.
A trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee for a day was not enough, but we hope to go back and check more attractions. That little resort city is really nice.
And that’s it. The whole month of May in one post. 😉 Until the next recap.
How was your May?
