Hi friends! Hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend. Our Labor Day was not short of enjoyment and fun because for the first time ever, we were able to go and finally witness the North Carolina Apple Festival in Hendersonville, North Carolina – a city that is located 22 miles south of Asheville. It was the 69th year celebration of this annual street festival and there’s nothing more perfect than enjoying it on Labor Day.
The street fair of the Apple Festival runs over the the Labor Day weekend on the main street of Hendersonville, offering arts, crafts, food and free music for everyone to enjoy.
The county of Henderson in North Carolina, where the city of Hendersonville is located, is an area known for their locally grown apples since the 1700s. North Carolina is the 7th largest apple-producing state in the nation and Henderson County grows 65% of the crop. Just last year we visited one of the apple farms, an eye-opening experience.
The different varieties of apple being sold in just one of the many stalls that sell apples. And they didn’t only sell the fruit, there were also fried apple pies, apple cakes, apple cider – including hard cider – and apple slushies.
But it’s not only all about apples at the Apple Festival. I don’t think a festival would be complete without funnel cakes, one of my favorites. đŸ™‚ And of course, we grabbed us some.
They also had rides for kids and the whole family to enjoy.
The festival ended with the King Apple Parade. From law enforcers to veterans to marching bands and these beauties, they made the parade such a beautiful and fun event for one and all to enjoy.
What a wonderful family day it was, and I am so glad we were able to see it.

I would totally love to go to this! I am jealous! The only thing bad about living is where I do is we don’t get a fall and cool weather to enjoy apples and other fruit!

Looks like a fun local festival. I’ve never had a funnel cake – is that odd?
It’s not at all odd, Emily. I actually haven’t had funnel cake until about a couple of years ago. đŸ˜‰
Looks amazing! I want to try that funnel cake. Wish we have an apple festival in San Diego
There are tons of apple orchards our here too, we make it a point to take the kids to one almost every fall. A roadie to NC isn’t totally out of the question, they are a lot of fun.
I’m from Tn and NC looks a lot like Tn. I’d love to visit and spend some time there looking around in the mountains to see if we’d like to live there.
Never been into any apple festival. Hope I can experience it soon!
Another reason that I love fall, is for all of the fun festivals and food! That funnel cake looks amazing!!!
