I’ve been here in the U.S. for five years now, but I can still remember the heavenly fragrance of my sister-in-law and brother-in-laws’ house like it was only yesterday when I walked into their front door for the first time ever on Christmas Eve of 2010. The house smelled so good I thought something was cooking, but no, the fragrance came from burning candles. There were a bunch of them in the living room.
That was only the first of the many other occasions that we’ve spent at my in-laws’ house because my sister-in-law is always the one who hosts family gatherings like Easter, 4th of July, Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. But I must admit, I have never given her a hostess gift during the holidays because I always have a Christmas gift for her. This time around, I thought of giving her not only a Christmas gift, but a hostess gift as well for being such a gracious host all the time. I believe this basket that we found at a store was meant to be ours because it was the only one left. I love the red bow ribbon; it makes the basket look so festive which is perfect for this holiday hostess gift. Then I added some paper crinkle to finish the look.

I love scented candles. There are so many different kinds that I love the smell of in the house that I think my house will be overrun with candles my husband will let me.
