Happy New Year! I hope you all had fun welcoming in the new year last night, and I also hope that 2016 will be a great year for all of you. Cheers to that!
2015 had been a great year for us, family, life, health and blog wise. There were some lows, but not enough to not make it a great 2015. And here’s a look back at the last month of the year.
As compared to the previous months, December didn’t seem to go by so quickly. Maybe because we were so busy with all the holiday shenanigans, from here at home to our son’s school activities and to all the fun that we had around town. I’ve blogged about most of the fun stuff here so here goes my December recap.
FAMILY
I introduced a new holiday tradition for us, an Advent Calendar. The look on my son’s face the first time he opened one of the flaps on the first day of December was priceless. For the first time too, I gave my sister-in-law a hostess gift that she well-deserved. A gift that truly made her face light up when she saw it.
My husband shared his love for Christmas movies. I love watching Christmas movies myself and honestly, I actually started watching in September. 🙂 And being the book lover that my husband is, there was no surprise at all that he considers books to be the best gift for him to receive. And that it why, there was never been a Christmas since we’ve been together that I didn’t give him books. Books give him so much joy.
FOOD
I have a sweet tooth and I love cooking, but when it comes to baking, the hubs is in-charge around here. We love brownies and he almost bakes them regularly. But for the first time, I helped him and we added some fun stuff on the brownies and came up with M&M brownies. Yum!
Yes, he’s in-charge when it comes to baking, but I decided to bake cookies too, which was my first time, and I love how it turned out with the coconut flakes that I added. I’m going to make another batch soon!
I made a gingerbread house before and I had no plans of making one this year until I saw the gingerbread Christmas tree at the store. It was much easier to make than the gingerbread house and I had fun. My son had fun watching me too. 🙂
One of my goals for next year is to eat healthier. I’m excited to make healthy smoothies out of the smoothie delivery box that I received. It is full of ingredients that are all organic and non-GMO.
TRAVEL
We were able to witness a Christmas festival this year and I was glad we did because it put me in more of a festive mood. The Old Fashioned Dickens of a Christmas Festival was held at the Historic Biltmore Village here in Asheville. Then we roamed around the village after the festival, and stumbled upon The Olde World Christmas Shoppe. Stumbling upon the shop during the holidays was just perfect.
How was your December?

Happy New Year! We have always had an Advent Calendar for each of the children – this year Pickle did not understand it at all – it caused a fair bit of stress! Kaz x
