I don’t know about you but my bucket list of places to visit and explore seems to be growing by the day. What can I say? I am continuing to discover places that don’t only offer picturesque and breathtaking views, but also a lot of fun for the whole family to enjoy. I am all for the clean, family, full-of-fun vacay. And this time around, let’s talk about Heber Valley in northern Utah.
Only less than a 50-minute drive from Salt Lake City and a 15-minute drive from Park City, Heber Valley offers super fun family activities the whole year through like biking, hiking, snowmobiling, snow skiing, water skiing, golfing, horseback riding, snow tubing, zip lining, ATV riding and fishing. That said, it is a four-season destination for an ideal family adventure that would surely make you enjoy life to the fullest.
Heber Valley is known as Utah’s Switzerland because of the rugged beauty of Mount Timpanogos overlooking the valley, the green meadows, the streams and the cool climate. It also has 200 miles of trails for hiking, biking and snowmobiling. And did you know that the surround sound was invented at Heber Valley by Jim Fosgate? What a fun discovery!
It is also home to the world’s sheepdog competition and the Nordic events for the Olympic and Paralympic. Provo River which has an estimated 45,000 fish per river mile can be found at Heber Valley too. Aren’t these amazing facts?
In addition, it also has 90 holes of golf between five public courses. I bet this fact will make my husband who is a golf fanatic and who loves to play golf giddy with excitement. Crater Springs Golf Course and Utah State Parks Golf Courses are also located nearby. He loves to try and play on different golf courses so he’s going to love that.
The area is surrounded by beautiful places as well for more exciting family adventure which you could also explore after you’ve enjoyed Heber Valley. Places include reservoirs like Deer Creek and Jordanelle. Or the Wasatch Mountain State Park and Homestead Crater. If you’re into history like our family, I believe the Heber Valley Historic Railroad is worth checking and visiting as well.
Knowing that they have kid-friendly ATVs and snowmobiles makes me giddy. I know I’m not a kid anymore, but I am giddy for my son because I have no doubt he’s going to love it. I haven’t tried riding the ATV myself, but it is one of those things that I would like to try one of these days. It would be exciting and thrilling to explore the area in an ATV or snowmobile for sure. Don’t you think so too?
Summer is right around the corner and I can’t help but daydream of a family vacation for us. And without a doubt, Heber Valley would be a perfect place for our much-needed and long-overdue family getaway.
Have you been to Heber Valley? Would you like to visit the place someday?
