Hello y’all! Happy Monday and I hope you all had a great weekend!
We took a road trip to Atlanta over the weekend and it was super fun! We were so glad the weather totally cooperated because a couple of days before the trip, the Atlanta forecast was showing thunderstorms, but it changed its mind. Don’t you just love it when that happens? I know a rainy day would not have stopped us from going to Atlanta, but you know it’s still much much better to explore the area when the weather is great.
It was gloomy in the morning though, and the sun just peaked out from time to time. Took this photo of the SkyView Ferris Wheel which is located at Centennial Park while in the car on our way to the hotel.
But the sun was shining brightly somewhere in South Carolina. See those blue skies?
The drive to Atlanta from Asheville, North Carolina is more or less three hours unless you speed up like the hubs and put the pedal to the metal, as he likes to say.:) He did speed up in some areas, but not all the time because I am always there to look at the GPS and check his speed.
Our first stop was at the world’s largest drive-in, The Varsity. We missed going there on our last trip to Atlanta in 2012 so we made sure not to miss it this time. And our arrival in Atlanta was perfect for lunchtime!
We really enjoyed what we had…Chili Cheese Dog, Chili Cheeseburger, Onion Rings and Chocolate Shake. Yum! Yum!
We parked at the lower level, but we took the entrance on the second level at the back. After we ate, we enjoyed the Atlanta skyline from this part of the parking area. Hubby will talk more about The Varsity next time. That wasn’t his first time to visit the place and visiting it again brought him back sweet memories.
Then in the evening, we watched a game of our favorite, the Atlanta Braves! Woohoo! Hello Braves Country!
It was the third time that we’ve seen them play, at least me and Yogi. The hubs has been going to Atlanta for years to see them play. We watched two Braves games the last time we were in Atlanta, but the excitement never ceases. The best thing was, we’ve got better seats this time, the 4th row from the field. We could see the players clearly and everyone else on the field. The hubs did a great job in choosing our seats…and paying for it too. 🙂
The weather gave us a little scare though while the game was on. From the distance in front of us, we could see dark clouds and hear the thunder. We even saw lighting once. Good thing, the wind was blowing. I think that kept the rain from coming in our direction.
Our Braves lost 4-3, but it’s okay. Hubby was still very much happy because his favorite player, Pierzynski had a two-run homerun. And I’m sure, the hubs will talk more about the Atlanta Braves here on the blog soon.
There was a concert by the Chase d’Arnaud Band after the game so we watched. Chase is one of the Atlanta Braves players and he also has a band. And although he doesn’t know me, I felt proud watching him perform on stage because he is half-Filipino (his mother is a Filipina). This guy is not only a good baseball player, he can sing too! I hope he makes it big in the music scene like he did in baseball. Best of luck to him!
Our Sunday was spent shopping and exploring other parts of Georgia. The traffic was a little bad on our way home, but there were no accidents along the way and we’re all happy to be home, safe and sound.
How was your weekend?

I wont talk to much about my weekend, started it off Friday with having to put my 3 year old cat to sleep. :/ He was a fatty and apparently became sick with something that caused him to lose weight too quickly and that in turn caused fatty liver which was on the verge of causing him to pass anyhow. Sadly cat’s only have a 30% chance of treatment working. So to help the kids feel better we went to fireworks for a local festival Saturday night and sat along the lake front together watching those, it was so nice to sit with the kids by the lake. Other than that nothing eventful, definitely didn’t get to spend the weekend in Atlanta which I would LOVE to do!!
