Hello September!
I always get giddy with excitement when September starts. Other than the reason that it signifies the beginning of the “ber” months, September is my birth month. If you are a follower of mine on Instagram, you already knew that it was my birthday yesterday. 🙂 Also, it seems like when it’s already September, it feels like Christmas is just around the corner. And Christmas being my favorite time of the year, I almost feel like I want to put up Christmas decor already. To tell you, I used to decorate as early as September back in my hometown. That’s how I love it so much. But it changed when I got here in the U.S. because it doesn’t seem right to have Christmas decor before Halloween. LOL.
Anyway, before I get carried away about talking all things Christmas, let me take you back to the month that was here on the blog. So here’s our August recap!
FAMILY
School is back! But our first week wasn’t bad at all because we have a back to school routine that really works for us. So glad about that! Our only son is already in 8th grade and although he wasn’t as anxious for school to start compared to when he started middle school last year, he was still vocal about first day of school being awkward. But he arrived home the first day and excitedly narrated how exciting his first day was. There are some kids though that have all these mixed emotions in starting middle school and that’s why empathy is important. And I shared how we teach empathy at home.
Family time is always great. We got to spend some quality time at the beautiful, Lake Louise in Weaverville and the hubs was able to hit the golf course again and he made me his scorekeeper.
Hubby shared his love for books as he talked about the Jason Bourne series as well as the classic sci-fi book, The Green Hills of Earth. He’s been watching reruns of the Barney Miller show lately and he blogged about it too.
FOOD
We got to check out a new restaurant, Copper River Grill and I totally enjoyed my Ahi Tuna Sandwich. Yum! I got to share an easy quiche recipe with the, Spinach and Tomato Quiche with Blue Cheese.
I always check for new recipes to try regularly and my favorite app to use is Yummly. You better check it out too. There are a ton of recipes there.
TRAVEL
We have already been to a lot of beautiful cities in the U.S. You can find them all on our Travels Page. But we still do have a lot of cities that we want to visit and explore. See them all on our bucket list of cities to visit in the United States.
Other than wanting to travel more, we would love to invest too. Do you? If so, check this post if you want to invest in living comfortably.
And that’s it!
How was your August? I hope it was great! Have a great September!
