Finally, it’s the first day of spring! Woot! The weather is looking great too – temperature today will be in the high 60’s and the sun is shining. And if we get lucky, the temperature might go up to lower 70’s. 😉
And today, I’ll be talking all things spring. How’s that for the first day of spring? Is it obvious that I am so excited for this day to come. I believe I’m not the only one feeling that way. And if you’re new here, I’ve shared spring blooms here on the blog previously. Blooms that I’ve seen the previous weeks around the city. Too funny though, I’ve shared all those blooms and I totally forgot sharing about my own periwinkles.
So here they are. They started blooming more or less three weeks ago and have survived the late-winter snow and frost we’ve had. I planted them on a sloping bank in our backyard and I can see them from our kitchen window. I’ve had them for five years now and they spread so much more every year. They are so easy to grow with very minimal care. They produce gorgeous blooms too. Got to love this plant.
I bought this hyacinth in a jar at the grocery store. This is the first year that I’ve had them and I was blown away by their fragrance. I had no idea they have such a sweet smell. It’s sitting on our mantel but the blooms are almost gone.
The hubs had been so looking forward to spring and one of the reasons is this. Yup, he can’t wait to play golf again. Like I said on Instagram, this photo was taken last fall, but the place will look like this again before we know it. I honestly can’t wait to explore the outdoors too. There have been days that I wanted for the hubs and I to go walking, but it was just too chilly to go. I think I’m becoming a wuss like him. 😀
How’s the first day of spring in your neck of the woods? Hope it’s great!

I think we skipped spring all together here! It has been in the 90s all week and I enjoy it. I like hot. Usually when I gets really hot we do stay indoors but right now we are out constantly trying to enjoy this weather.

We live in the south, so it’s summer and spring all year long. We do have a few cool days during the winter. Oh, I also love the smell of hyacinths. They remind me of watermelon.

We noticed that the tree outside our house is starting to bloom. My youngest actually mentioned it to me last week. He said spring is on its way. The flowers are beautiful.

Spring feels like it’s taking it’s own sweet time here. We had a very mild winter but spring seems to just be only a few degrees warmer so far. Bring it on!
