Happy Friday!
If you have been following this blog, you would have remembered that I used to do recaps every month. But I missed updating our blog for a month when we had our month long vacation to my home country (Philippines) so I decided not to continue with the recaps because I don’t think it makes sense doing recaps with a month missing. So I waited for the new year and here I am…excitedly giving you the recap for January.
I started the month with a review of our 2017 in my post Looking Back on 2017. It was such a good year for us and I hope this year will be as good.
TRAVEL
It is super cold today with wind chill, but nothing was colder when we were hit by an arctic blast in early January which actually froze the French Broad River. Look at that frozen river! Hubby who was born and raised here had not seen that ever happened before. This winter seems to be so cold; that’s why we all are looking forward for summer to arrive because we have plans for some road trips and Hubby has plans to hit the golf course as much as possible.
If you have missed the post about the reasons why you should visit our beautiful city of Asheville in 2018, you should go check it out.
Shared my tips on how to survive a long flight. It can be tiring alright, but you sure can make it enjoyable.
FOOD
One of my goals for 2017 is to continue eating healthier. Who knew pies could be healthy? Look at these!
We love having a takeout from time to time too and more often than not, we always go for Chinese takeout and one thing that I look forward to checking are the fortune cookie quotes. It’s so much fun to read those quotes. Shared some good fortune cookie quotes here.
FAMILY
In regards to my goals for this year…so far, so good.
With regards to my bookworm hubby, he’s continuing to share the books that he had read this year like the James Bond series, as well as the movies that he has watched. And you bet, he’ll continue to share more of those things in the coming months.
It was a great January albeit cold. Brrr!
How was your January?

Hi Heather! There’s a lot of fun things going on this month. Watch out for it! 🙂
My January was pretty uneventful. But after a busy year, I’m ok with that! Sounds like you had a nice month, I can’t believe February is here already!
Sounds like you had a great January. I’ll be checking out the long flight ideas. I hate flying and the longer ones are just horrible for me, lol.
My January started off rough. My uncle died, a former classmate died and an old neighbor. I’m excited about the start of a new month.
I’m sorry, Mimi. I hope your February will be a great one.
January seemed to fly by so fast. It seems to go faster and faster lately too. 🙁
I can’t wait to see what your plans are in Feb and what type of goodies that you will share for Valentines day.
Thank you! 🙂
Sounds like you had a great month. Mine was very, very long and stressful. Thankfully February seems to be starting off better!
Sounds like you had a fun January! What a great way to start the new year, lots of fun and memories!
It looks like you’ve had a wonderful month. Those pie recipes look scrumptious.
It still feels like January to me. Mine was great. It started the year off in a nice way.
