After the hubs was done writing his post about America’s Birthday on Wednesday, we decided to hit downtown for the 4th of July fun and festivities. We’ve been going to downtown Asheville for the 4th the past few years since I arrived here in the U.S. from the Philippines, though initially we celebrated in the small town of Weaverville where the hub’s brother lives.
A monument honoring a past governor of the state of North Carolina. He was actually born here in a log cabin just outside of town. His birthplace is now a state historical site which we’ve visited.
Just like the previous 4th of July celebrations in downtown, they have the Ultimate Air Dogs Show. It is really fun to watch the dogs jump to the pool.
We arrived at around mid-afternoon and there were quite a crowd there. But we were there for one special thing. You’ll find out at the bottom of this post what it is. The hubs took the pleasure to get it for me and while he was in queue waiting for his turn, I sat on a bench and this was my view. To the right was where the Ultimate Air Dogs Show was happening.
Gobble gobble on the street! If you’re following me on Instagram, you must have seen them already since I shared them yesterday.
But here’s two more cuties. Don’t forget to find them downtown if you visit Asheville.
And here’s the ultimate reason why we hit downtown…funnel cake! I only get to enjoy and indulge in this deliciousness on the 4th of July so please bear with me. 🙂 We bought two because my son loves it too so we took him one home. Yes, we didn’t watch the fireworks display this year, but I am more than happy that I got to eat funnel cake again.
How about you? How was your 4th of July celebration?

Our 4th was full of family and friends out back enjoying barbecue and lawn games. It was great!

We celebrate 4th of July as family, we prepared a small get together and delicious food for all of us and we also watched our one of fave movie Captain America.

Ooooh, funnel cake is my favourite. Looks like you had an amazing July 4th. We had great weather here and did fireworks.

I haven’t been to Asheville, but it seems like a nice city to explore. Sounds like you had a nice 4th of July! It’s nice to take advantage of fun events like these.
