We’re back! Yep, we were MIA for a week and that was because we were out for our family summer vacation. I chose to fully unplug and enjoy quality family time with my boys while having fun and exploring new places, and boy, it was wonderful.
Last year, we went to visit my family back in my home country, but this year, we kept it budget-friendly and re-visited places as well as explored new places in our neighboring state of Georgia.
The bridge leaving Savannah, spanning the Savannah River leading to the South Carolina state line.
Today’s post is a summary of all the places that we visited and explored. I will go into details of each city or place later on because there is just so much to share…photos and stories alike.
ATLANTA
The new ballpark for the Atlanta Braves opened last year, but we didn’t get to see it last year. So this year, the Hubs made sure that we got to see the new ballpark and watch our favorite team, the Atlanta Braves, play.
What an amazing ballpark it is! It is located in the northwest section of the Atlanta metropolitan area and is adjoined by The Battery, a recreation area that it is full of all kinds of entertainment and restaurants. There is even a hotel inside the battery.
COVINGTON
While the Hubs made sure to see the new ballpark, I also made sure that the next time we visited Atlanta that we’d make a trip to Covington which is only about 44 miles from Atlanta. I was a fan of the series The Vampire Diaries, and after I binge-watched the series on Netflix and found out that the show’s location is right next door to Atlanta, I put it on my bucket list of places to visit. And we finally did it this year. Yeah!
SAVANNAH
A memorial to one of Savannah’s most famous residents, Johnny Mercer. An American lyricist, songwriter and singer, he wrote two well-known songs, “Jingle Bells” and “Moon River.”
My sister-in-law had been here many times with my brother-in-law and she was raving about it so we put it on our bucket list. We love exploring historic places and Savannah sure did not disappoint. We took the trolley tour and saw and learned a lot about this beautiful city.
TYBEE ISLAND
This is a quaint island yet very charming. This is only about a 30 mile drive from Savannah so we took a trip there before we headed home. So glad we did.
It was definitely a wonderful summer vacation. More about these places in the coming days here on the blog so watch out for them.
Have a great week, folks!
