This dinner was only the first among the many family dinners that we had when we had our recent trip to my hometown last month. If you missed it, I wrote about the reason why we had to take that trip here previously.
It was my oldest nephew’s birthday so our eldest brother took us to this restaurant located at the mall for a dinner treat. It was my first time at this restaurant and the unique yet cozy decor left me in awe. I mean, can you even? We sat right in front of this spot. The restaurant’s name is Mega Grill.
Filipino Food at its Finest
When the food that my brother ordered startied to arrive, I couldn’t help but drool. LOL. It was only our second night in the city and we hadn’t eaten all the Filipino dishes that we’ve missed so much yet.
Sisig
Our son has grown to love this popular Filipino dish and even wants me to prepare it here at home. Problem is, not all ingredients needed for this dish are available here in the U.S.
Sinigang na Isda
It is so hot in the Philippines but we still love those soup dishes and this one is among the most favorite Filipino soups.
Gulay
There’s got to be vegetables. I just love those baby corns.
Kare-Kare
This has peanut butter in it and it’s oh so good.
Pancit Bam-I
This is just one among the many Filipino noodle dishes that we have.
Garlic Chicken
One of the kids most favorite dishes. They all grabbed it even before I could get one.
Grilled Seafoods and Pork Barbeque
There’s mussels, squid, shrimp, tuna belly and the ones on skewers are a Filipino favorite, pork barbeque.
Fam Bam
The entire family, minus Mom. As you noticed, most of us were wearing white tops and it was because this was the evening of Mom’s burial. We all headed here afterwards to celebrate my nephew’s birthday. Yes, it was his birthday on Mom’s burial day. But even in the face of death, life does go on.
What a night of great food it was with the family. And like I said, this was just the first among the many food trips with my fam bam.
Happy Friday, folks and have a great weekend!

Filippino food is one of my favorite types of Asian cuisine. It has a really unique approach to the flavors it uses.

And to add to my last comment. That garlic chicken looks SO DELICIOUS!
It all looks so yummy! The noodles and chicken are making me drool. I hope you have many more nights together celebrating and eating delicious meals as a family.
That looks like such delicious food. That environment looks really neat also, it would be great to visit.
I’ve never tried Fillipino food before but i’ve always wondered about it! I love your explanation of each dish, makes it sound delicious!
