Happy Food Trip Friday!
I love seafood. And so does my husband and son. Seafood abounds in my hometown. I think it’s one of those perks that you get to enjoy in a tropical country. And not just any seafood, but fresh seafood at that. And fresh seafood is something that I don’t enjoy as much here in the U.S. So during our recent trip to my home country, the Philippines, we made sure to indulge.
After my previous post about our first family get-together, here’s another one of those family dinners that our family had during our recent trip. I didn’t get a picture of the whole family this time. I think I was so hungry that’s why I forgot. 🙂
Grilled Stuffed Squid
It has a lot of spices inside which made it tastier.
Shrimp Tempura
We were greatly influenced by Japanese on this one. Hubby likes Japanese food too and he was actually the one who chose this.
Sauteed Mussels in Garlic Sauce
They were not as big as they looked, but they were still good. Another of my hubby’s favorites and choices for this feast.
Clam Soup
This is so good. I have seen the Asian store here selling clams so I may make this soup one of these days. Their clams are not as fresh though, I guess.
Pinaputok na Tilapia
You can see one whole tilapia at the supermarkets here in the U.S. now, but they sure are not fresh compared to what we got. So I only buy tilapia fillets here.
Sizzling Squid
It sizzles, it’s hot and it is delicious.
Have you had any of these food before? Or have you tried any Filipino food? If you haven’t yet, you should give it a try and trust me, you’re going to love it!
Have a wonderful three-day weekend, folks! Happy Labor Day!

I love certain seafood but I’m kinda picky. I prefer shrimp, crab, or calamari. I haven’t tried any of the dishes that you mentioned.
