A year older, and a year wiser, for sure…or…I guess. 🙂
I celebrated another birthday a few days ago and that’s one of the reasons why I love September…it’s my birth month. There’s more to love in September, but let’s talk about my special day for now, shall we?
Chupacabra Latin Cafe
We always go out to dinner to celebrate occasions such as birthdays. This time, we decided to try this Latin restaurant named Chupacabra Latin Cafe. This is located so close to home and we’ve been in this area before, but we’ve never tried it. But our son mentioned the restaurant a few days before my birthday because his school bus always passes by this neighborhood and he saw people eating outside…so we thought, why not?
I actually like this neighborhood because it’s not so busy. It is called Reynold’s Village and other than a few restaurants, shops, business offices and cafes, they also have apartments and condos. We arrived a little after five and the restaurant was not crowded yet except for the bar area. So what did we stuff our tummies with? Here you go!
Guacamole
It is fresh avocado smashed with pico de gallo, lime and cilantro plus the tortilla chips. I love avocado, but I was still busy deciding on what to get when the hubs ordered it. I was surprised because he’s not a big fan of avocado like me. And he liked it a lot. Our son enjoyed it too. And that other dip was really good. We had no idea what were all the goodies that were in it, though it seemed to be the usual salsa you get with chips and nachos.
Paella
It’s a Spanish dish with shrimp, mussels, catch, calamari and smoked sausage simmered in arborio rice and saffron-white wine tomato broth. This was our son’s choice and he truly enjoyed it. I remember preparing paella here at home before. That’s how much we love seafood and of course, rice.
Beef Enchiladas
This is a three pollo enchiladas covered in enchilada sauce and melted jack cheese and served with rice, black beans, lettuce, pico, sliced avocado and sour cream. Then topped with cilantro and fresco. This was Hubby’s plate. This was not on the menu though and they only serve Chicken Enchiladas, but the waiter told him that they could change the chicken to beef since Hubby prefers beef, and Hubby could not have been happier.
Steak Fajitas
The food was great, the ambiance was cozy and the service was awesome. They have an extensive menu too which prompted the hubs to say that we are going back to try more. My tummy was indeed happy on my birthday.
Happy Friday, folks! Enjoy the weekend!

I haven’t had paella in ages. That paella looks so good. I was in Mexico last year and had the best Mexican food ever and have been trying to replicate some of the recipes. Haven’t mastered them yet, but I’m still trying.

Yum! Mexican food is my favorite! The enchiladas would be my pick but I have been wanting to give paella a try.
