We arrived in Savannah from Atlanta on a Friday afternoon to continue our family summer vacation. Our plan was to eat at Paula Deen’s restaurant that night, but like I mentioned previously, the waiting list was so long. The restaurants close to the hotel where we were staying all had long queues too so we decided to go back to the hotel and check their restaurant out and, fortunately, there was nobody there but us.
Five Oaks Taproom. That is the name of Hotel indigo’s restaurant and bar. Their bar had a live performance by a lady performer that night we were there. We couldn’t see the woman from where we were sitting, but we sure could hear her loud and clear. She has such an amazing voice.
Here’s what we had.
Marinated Olives and Hummus
It is Mediterranean olives, chick pea hummus and homemade naan bread with carrots and celery. Hubby chose this for his starter.
And he finished his dinner with this. I totally forgot the exact name for this dish. I am not sure if this is a pizza or just a flatbread with toppings.
Pan Seared Red Drum Fillet
Jasmine rice, stewed vegetable okra with andouille sausage and basil oil. This was mine. The vegetables had a unique taste to it, but it was good.
Crispy Pork Belly
Roasted brussels sprouts with cauliflower potato puree and peach gastrique. Guess whose choice was this? The little one of course. He is a huge meat eater.
Chocolate Cake
Chocolate mousse with caramel and fresh berries. We usually don’t have room for dessert when we eat out, but that night, we had plenty. I think maybe because we were all so hungry already. So we ordered this delectable dessert that the three of us shared. So good. The cake may look small in the picture, but it was more than enough to fill that room in our tummy.
The food was great, but a little pricey. And we also had our breakfast there before we left that Sunday morning to go to Tybee Island. I will share about that delicious breakfast here soon.
Happy Friday, folks!
