While our son was having a great time bonding with his cousins, Hubby and I took the opportunity to spend some quality time together as well. This was during our unplanned trip to the Philippines last summer.
We spent a lot of time with my family and had food trips at dinnertime. Hubby and I had free time during lunchtime so we grabbed those chances.
His and Hers
There were a lot of restaurants that opened in my hometown of Gensan since we left in 2010 so we checked some of those new restaurants to sample the food. Most of these restaurants were located at the newly opened SM Mall. It opened a couple of years ago, if I’m not mistaken.
Pancake House
We visited this restaurant last year when we had our month-long vacation, and since I enjoyed their food a lot, I told the Hubs that we eat there again. They didn’t have the Beef Tapa that I ordered last year, though, so I just ordered what they had available. And I had this chocolate milkshake. Yum!
Ranchero
When Hubby visited me for the first time in 2009, I took him to this restaurant. But this one was the branch at the mall. They are famous for their baby back ribs. That was what we ordered including this Avocado Shake for me. So good! The name of the restaurant is Ranchero.
Grab-A-Crab
Still at the mall, this restaurant is famous for their crabs. The name of the restaurant is actually Grab-A-Crab. We didn’t order crabs though, but chose other seafood. I had mango shake this time.
Can you tell now that I love milkshakes or smoothies so much?! 🙂
Crab Fried Rice
Squid
Shrimps
They were all delicious!
Just looking at these photos now make me miss the food in my home country again. I can have shrimps now here, as well as crabs at the Asian Store, but no squid. Hopefully, soon.
Happy Friday, folks!

I think that one of my favorite things about traveling to stay with family is getting to have a date out in a new city. It is so fun to have the kids get alone time with family and we get to explore.

The seafood looks so tasty. I haven’t had any in a long time, shrimp is my favorite.
I also love lunchtime dates with my husband. We go out every once in a while but we probably should go more often.
