Fall is finally upon us and I couldn’t be any happier because it is my favorite season. I talked about why fall is my favorite season before, and living in North Carolina, there are many things to do and love during fall season around here which is also why tourists flock to the area during this time of year. Hubby even explained why I fell in love with fall.
As a family, we have made a lot of memories in the last eight years of fall here in the U.S. We have went apple picking and visited pumpkin patches. We have also enjoyed walking through corn mazes and got lost at one time which made it more fun, actually.
We also went leaf peeping and took a scenic drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway in 2011. That was the first fall that I actually enjoyed the beauty of fall foliage. That was definitely a good call by the hubs when he decided to take us to one of the most visited parks in the U.S. for an awesome fall scenic drive. He wanted to make sure to give us a remarkable fall experience. I would say that was the most exciting experience we’ve had since celebrating fall here in the U.S. in 2010.
But I must say that my most favorite memory was in the late fall of 2010. The leaves had already fallen by that time and there was no beautiful foliage anymore because it was already in late November, but that was the time when I first felt the cool fall air on my cheeks.
It was a couple of days before Thanksgiving of 2010 when my son and I set foot on U.S. soil. That early evening when we came out of the regional airport will always be my favorite fall memory. Pulling a luggage in my right hand hand while carrying a tote in my shoulder, I noticed all the cars in the parking lot, but all I can say when we got out of the airport was…”Oh my God, it’s cold.” And yet I was wearing a cardigan sweater. And how could I not forget my husband’s reply…”This is not cold. This is chilly.”
The weather was in the Fahrenheit 60’s that night, but coming from a tropical country, it felt so cold to me. But after being here in the U.S. for almost eight years now, I have already adjusted to the fall weather and, yes, the husband was right, that night wasn’t cold, it was only chilly. 🙂
What is your favorite fall memory?

It looks lovely! I love Fall, and the leaves changing is so wonderful… We haven’t gotten much leaf change here in the valley yet, but I need to take a drive and see them changing up in the mountains.

Fall is our favorite. My favorite is a bonfire at my friend’s house with my kids, hot dogs, chili and marshmellows. All our favorite fall food!

My favorite fall memory is when my daughters were small and they would marvel and the leaves swirling around our neighborhood, and the squirrels picking up acorns getting ready for winter.

Oh wow, I love Fall – but it’s so much more vibrant out there! Our leaves go from green to brown… no real inbetween.

We did the Blue Ridge Parkway one fall on our way to The Greenbriar in WVA. I miss it since I live in South Florida. The changing of the tides down here.

I love when the leaves change colors…Upstate NY has a lot of beautiful scenes that unfold. I hope that I make better fall memories than I’ve been having lately. There is always Halloween time, where I get to live through the adventures of my nephew.

My favorite fall memory was on one of the last family vacations I took before moving out of my parents house. We went to Amish country in PA and took a train ride through the area. The colors were just so beautiful.

My favorite fall memory would have to be going to my mom’s best friends house as a kid. She would always make the most delectable desserts and every kid in the neighborhood was always lined up at her front door wanting her baked goodies. So many beautiful memories.

Lyndee, that was a great story!
My hisband is from Texas and we visited one time and it was in the 80s and people were wearing sweaters!! I had on shorts! It was hot to me!
My favorite fall memories are of my beloved Woodfin. I loved going in the woods with a good book, finding a fallen tree trunk and laying in it reading some, and then listening to the leaves fall and land in the ground. It was such a wonderful time and memory.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and memories!
