It’s the beginning of a new year and as much I look forward to what this year will bring and has in store for us, I also find it fun to look back on the year that was. I posted a look back on 2017 early last year and decided to continue that kind of post this year.
2018 started so cold. So cold that the French Broad River iced over. The next few months was chilly up until our wonderful family summer vacation and the unplanned trip to the Philippines in late summer.
Travel
We always try to go somewhere in the summer and visit a new place. It’s always fun to explore a new one and this summer was absolutely amazing because we got to see a lot in Georgia. From Atlanta and Covington to Savannah and lastly, Tybee Island.

The Philippines
We had to make an unplanned trip to see my Mom one last time. It was a bittersweet trip. Sad to see her go, but happy that I got to reunite with my family again especially with my two brothers whom I hadn’t seen in eight years — one works in Singapore and the other one migrated to Canada when we had our month long vacation in the Philippines in 2017.

Lastly, a look back on the year that was will not be complete without mentioning about my most favorite time of the year…Christmas! And for the first time ever, I shared about Filipino Christmas traditions which include Christmas starting in September. 🙂
All in all, 2018 was a good year for us despite losing my Mom. I have made more memories with my husband and son as well as with my family back home. Now, on to 2019. Bring it on!

I’m so sorry that you lost your mom, but I’m glad that you were able to visit her both in person and through video chat. I lost my dad a few years ago, and while it was painful, it is good to know he isn’t in pain. Overall, it seems like you had a good year and had lots of adventures.
Thank you, Beth. And my late Mom’s nickname was also Beth. 🙂 Just like your Dad, it was painful when she passed, but we were also glad that she was no longer in pain. Have a wonderful 2019!
What a full year you have had! I’m really glad you got to go back to the Philippines – I know it meant a lot to your family.
