Today is the 9th anniversary of my mother-in-law’s passing away. I knew my husband would have written about this day here on the blog, but he has been so busy with work so I’m doing the honors instead.

This beautiful woman whom my husband fondly called Mama June Bug definitely deserves a space here on our blog on this day when she finally joined her creator. And that’s my husband right there as a baby.
I never got to meet her; she passed away seven months before I arrived in the U.S. so not only did I not get to meet her, she missed seeing our wedding. But it seems as if I had met her from all the stories that my husband has told me. Wish I had really met her because she was an excellent cook as I’ve heard not just from my husband, but from my SIL as well. I could have gotten a lot of cooking tips and perhaps, more recipes aside from the recipe cards she had left behind.
We have already followed some of her recipes and had actually shared those here on the blog before. Check them all below.
- Quick Blackberry Cobbler
- Peanut Butter Brownies
- Brownies
- Meatloaf
- Slow Cooker Chili
- Easy Cornbread Recipe

These are my in-laws on their wedding day. My husband had already shared stories about both of them here before and you can find them all below.

My husband on the left with his Mom and younger brother.
Hubby would most likely have written about his mom today, but, as I said, he’s been busy with his new job. For those of you who follow us, you may have noticed that he hasn’t written a blog post in several weeks. That’s because of his job. Hopefully, the time will soon come that he can continue sharing his thoughts with you.
Mama June Bug, you are terribly missed by your beloved Bud and you will never be forgotten.
My father in law passed away a few years ago. He is terribly missed. I enjoyed reading your recollections of your mother in law.
It sounds like she was a wonderful lady. And that this world is definitely not as good with her God. Keeping her memory alive through this blog post and remembering her recipes will definitely use the blow of losing her. I am sorry for you loss.
It is always nice to look back and remember. Sounds like a lovely woman
This is such a lovely post to your mother in law. I think it’s always important to remember those we’ve lost. I love looking at old photos.
This is such a lovely post. Your mother in law sounds like an amazing person. My father in-law passes away a couple of years ago.
What a sweet tribute for your mom in laws passing. She is walking with Jesus and my papa. Bless your husband on this hard day of her 9th anniversary.
I love this post. In the future, your family can read about June Bug and know her as the special woman you loved.
She was a beautiful lady. What a sweet way to memorialize. I am sure it was a hard day.
It sounds like she was a wonderful lady. I’m gad you atill make some of her good recipes!
I am sure she was a wonderful person and probably helped your husband to become the awesome human being you fell in love with. Both my dad and my father-in-law passed away within a few months of each other in 2015. I miss them both!
What a beautiful story! I was happy to know about it!
It’s so nice of you to write about her. She is so pretty and gorgeous!
Awww, so glad you recognized your MIL on your blog. That’s such a sweet story about her. May her recipes live on!!
This is a lovely tribute to her. It is nice to learn about your mother in law and to honor her this way.
Such a lovely dedicated post! I am so gonna make Mama June Bug’s Peanut Butter brownies and I love your last pic. The rocker hand gesture photobomb in the back made me laugh. Rock on! 😉
Oh my goodness! I didn’t even notice the rocker hand gesture photobomb until you said so. Now I can’t stop laughing. I will have to ask the Hubs whose hand was that. 🙂
This is so sweet that you took the time out to honor her on this day. Many times when people pass they leave a mark here with us for a long time to come.
