In my post, Bonsai at the North Carolina Arboretum, I mentioned about the LEGO sculptures that we also saw at the Arboretum that time. It was actually the main reason why we were there. There was an exhibit and knowing that our son was a huge LEGO fan, we had to see it ourselves.
The exhibit was called Nature Connects, Art with LEGO Bricks by Sean Kenney. There were 14 amazing LEGO sculptures and there were more than 370,000 LEGO bricks used to create all of it.
The creativity, skill and talent shown in all of these sculptures were really fascinating not just for the kids, but for us adults too. I mean, look at these pieces of art.
American Bumblebee
Hummingbird
Lawn Mower
Goldfinches
Garden Worker
In the eyes of a curious child. Look at my son scrutinizing the sculpture. You can see in this image too that those sculptures were not small. They were huge.
Koi
I remember almost missing this one. We saw the sign and we were like, where’s the Koi? It was such a delight when we finally found it. It was so cute!
Dragonfly
Water Platter
Tiger Swallowtail
Mosaic
I asked my husband and son to poke their heads in those holes, but they were shy to do so. 🙂
Germinating Acorn
Bison & Calf
This bison and calf sculptures were real-life sizes of a real bison and calf.
There was also a Rabbit and Fox together, and Moth Orchid, but my photos of them were not so good.
Depending on the size of the sculpture, it took the artist a few weeks to several months to finish a sculpture.
It was really a fun walk throughout the gardens of the North Carolina Arboretum finding these sculptures and finally seeing them in all their glory. It was totally amazing!
