Christmas is my favorite time of the year, but I’d never heard of Christmas in July until I got here in the U.S., although Christmas in the Philippines starts in September. And I couldn’t be happier that they have Christmas in July here, but I don’t celebrate it by putting up Christmas decor.
A Summer Christmas
My home country, being a tropical country, is like summertime the whole year through. I had never enjoyed or experienced a white Christmas or freezing cold temps until I got here in the U.S. So, although it’s hot outside, I still enjoy watching Christmas movies like I enjoy them during the wintertime. The only thing missing while I am watching them is the hot cocoa.
Christmas Movies on Hallmark Channel
They only show Christmas movies 24/7 for a couple of weeks in July on Hallmark Channel so I watch them as much as I can. Most of the movies are reruns so I have seen them before, but I still want to watch them again. I have seen a few new ones like Mingle all the Way and A Christmas Melody with Mariah Carey. She wasn’t the main character in the movie, but I really enjoyed watching her because I don’t think I’ve ever seen her in a movie before.
Where Did Christmas in July Start?
What a nice surprise it is to discover that Christmas in July started here in our state of North Carolina. In the town of Brevard specifically which is only about an hour drive from where we live. We went to this small town once when we visited Looking Glass Falls. You can read more about the real story behind Christmas in July here.
Top 10 Places in the U.S. to Celebrate Christmas in July
Apparently, the people in our state really love Christmas because North Carolina is one of the top 10 places to celebrate Christmas in July. What a delight to learn that. West Jefferson, NC celebrates Christmas in July Festival annually. We’ve never been to this town before, but after knowing about their festival, it makes me want to go and see the festival for myself.
Christmas in July on Hallmark Channel ends this weekend so my Christmas movie marathon will be coming to an end. But we’re halfway through the year and the Holiday Season will be here before we know it.

Christmas in July is always an interesting time of year isn’t it. Over here there are alot of events and I often see people showcasing what they have to come, it leads to a little bubble of excitement.
Christmas in July gives us a perfect opportunity to fondly reflect on the past holiday while gearing up for the new and chaotic events that will be heading our way.. lol

I have always loved Christmas so having it in July is alright with me. I can have it in June as well as August, too. haha I like the idea of a midway through the year refresher of Christmas spirit.

I am never ready for Christmas in December much less Christmas in July! I’m one of those last-minute shoppers who swears every year to be more prepared but never does.
