In Filipino cuisine, we only have few spices that we use often in cooking; garlic and onion plus the most commonly used seasonings-soy sauce, salt and pepper.
When I got here in the U.S., I was amazed of how many spices the Hubs had in his kitchen cabinet. Over the years, I learned to use them since the recipes that I have been trying out mostly require some or many of these spices.
And for a few years now (yes years) we have been looking for ways to simplify the search for the spices we use. The Hubs just stored them in the cabinet so whenever I needed one, I had to dig and search for the spice all the way to the back.
Then one day, I searched and searched for a spice rack and sought spice rack organizing ideas that would fit our needs. I checked on Pinterest and searched Google for all the ideas, and finally found these tin cans on Amazon. They are magnetic and, as you can see, they are adorable. My line is not perfectly straight so please bear with me, okay? 🙂
They come with labels as well and they are so easy to open and use. I placed them on the side of our refrigerator and arranged them alphabetically. I use salt and pepper a lot so I placed them at the end of the arrangement.
These tin cans maybe tiny but each tin can can hold a regular size jar of spice.
I finally organized my spices and I am so happy about it. See how neat they are?! Now I don’t have to dig in our cabinet to look for the spice that I need.
I just love these tin cans. They sure make life in the kitchen a little more convenient.
Have you organized your spices too? How did you organize them?

I have to admit I have been critisized for not using enough spice in my cooking so this array of spices looks so interesting. I like the simple cooking but I do like spicy food so I will try to use some of these.

How cool! I need to do this for sure. My spices are kind of shoved in a cupboard right now.

My spice cabinet is a mess and I have to search to the back for spices often too. I could definitely benefit by getting some of these awesome magnetic tins to have my spices more organized and run my kitchen more efficiently!

Having all the spices you need for recipes is so important. Keeping them organized saves a lot of money too. I have so many doubles.

I agree, it sure saves you money. Hubby actually has a few doubles too. 🙂
I love this idea. My spices take up a huge amount of space and I could really use a different method for storing them. I’m just afraid these tins are a bit too small as I have huge bottles of spices that I use on a regular basis. Cabinet space is at a premium in my kitchen and I could really use the extra space if I found a way to store my spices.
I have these tiny tins for storing spices as well. Like you, they are on the refrigerator by the stove. We’ve had these about 15 years now.
Oh, Wow! 15 years?! That is awesome, Terri. 🙂
I need to do something similar. My spice cabinet is out of control at the moment.
I need this! My kitchen is so tiny and anything I can do to save space is a much-needed improvement.
I saw this earlier online, perhaps FB? I loved the look and appeal of organizing spice this way. I know we’ll need to have this type of set up when we get into a home again. I’m bookmarking for tips to organize our spices when we have a home.
You probably saw it on FB or Pinterest or perhaps, Twitter. 🙂 Really loving my organized spices.
I need this right now! It looks perfect: I waste so much space in my cabinet and always knock them out.
What a great way to organize and display your spices. I dig around to find the right one. It takes forever!
This looks adorable! I think I’m going to do the same, thanks!
