One of the popular breakfast meals we have in my home country, the Philippines, is TapSiLog or a shortened/combined word for the combo Tapa (beef tapa), Sinangag (fried rice) and Itlog (egg, usually sunny-side-up egg).
I haven’t had this combo in years. So I recently tried preparing beef tapa here at home and here it is.
We had it for dinner, though, instead of breakfast. And we didn’t have fried rice and sunny-side-up egg with it. We only paired it with steamed brown rice.
I’ll make this beef tapa again soon and that time around, I’m going to create the entire TapSiLog combo. Yum!
Here’s the recipe for you to try.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb beef sirloin, sliced thinly
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 5 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, garlic, sugar, salt and pepper.
- Add in beef and stir until well coated.
- Marinate in the fridge overnight.
- The following day, heat oil in a pan and fry beef until brown on both sides.
- Enjoy!
It is really a very simple dish. It is so easy to prepare with very little ingredients that is mostly in your pantry already.
I do meal planning and I try to incorporate a beef recipe every week or every two weeks, that being so because the hubby insists on having beef! And this dish was on the menu last week.
But we do like trying out new recipes that’s why I’m always on the lookout for new recipes to try. If you have a beef recipe that you would like me to try, feel free to share the link to the recipe at the comment section below.
