Like I mentioned in my Filipino Cheese Bread post last week, I was thinking about baking Pandesal or Filipino Bread Rolls next…and here they are.
I finally got to make them a couple of days ago and I am so happy I got it right. As you know, I am still learning the art of baking. 🙂
Pandesal is famous in the Philippines to be paired with coffee in the morning. You can always get it there from bakeries freshly baked in the early morning.
It’s really good when eaten hot or warm just after coming out of the oven.
My brothers used to sell them back in the day when they were both in elementary and high school.
They would both get up at dawn and using their bikes, they would get the rolls in packs from the bakery and then they would roam around the neighborhood selling them. They’d get a commission per each pack that they sold.
I just love this type of bread and have missed having it on a regular basis.
Why did it take me forever to finally bake them? Thing is, I thought it would be hard to bake the Pandesal or any bread for that matter, but I was wrong.
My son loves these Filipino bread rolls and that’s why he was so delighted when I told him there’s Pandesal in the kitchen. He was so excited he even took a picture of the freshly baked bread and shared it with his girlfriend. 🙂
Here’s the recipe that I followed.
Next, I’m going to make some Ensaymada or Filipino Sweet Brioche Rolls. It was one of my favorites to have for a snack when I was back in my hometown. I can’t wait to make some and I hope I’ll do it right, too.
How about you? What have you been baking lately?
Happy Foodie Friday, friends! Enjoy the weekend!
